Crash Leads to Drug Charges for S. Carolina Woman

A South Carolina woman who crashed her car into two parked cars on W. Union Boulevard Tuesday was allegedly under the influence of marijuana and a medicine for which she had no prescription, according to Bethlehem police.

Regina Lynch, 48, of Florence, a city in the northeastern part of South Carolina, allegedly had a bag of marijuana and another bag containing the anti-depressant Xanax; tramadol, a synthetic painkiller; and cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride, a muscle relaxant, according to the arrest warrant. She had prescriptions for none of them, police said.

Police made the discoveries in her car after an accident on the 100 block of W. Union Boulevard a little after 7 a.m., according to the arrest warrant. Lynch allegedly had bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred her speech and smelled of marijuana.

Lynch told police the accident occurred when she was reaching for her cigarettes but a witness, in the vehicle behind her, says she was driving eratically before the crash, court records say.

Lynch tested negative for alcohol, but positive for Xanax and marijuana, the warrant said.

Lynch was arraigned before and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
