Homebase Skateshop Supporting Philippines Relief

Profit from sales of Homebase brand apparel and Supra footwear in next week will be donated to help nation devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.

If you shop at Homebase Skateshop in South Bethlehem this weekend, you could be helping the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

According to the shop’s Facebook page, 100 percent of all profits from the sale of all Homebase brand apparel and Supra footwear will be donated to relief efforts being coordinated by the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns.

According to CNN, more than 3 million people have been displaced on the nation’s six islands as a result of the devastating storm that packed 155 mph winds, shredded buildings and pushed seawater to the second floor of many buildings.

The death toll reached more than 5,200 people on Friday, while more than 1,500 people were still missing, cnn.com reported.

Homebase owner Andy Po’s personal connection to the Philippines is what is motivating the relief effort sale, The Express Times reported. Po’s parents moved to the United States when they were teenagers, though he still has uncles and cousins there.

The sale, which started Friday, will run through Thanksgiving Day. The store is located at 14 W. Fourth St.
