Mold at Farmersville Elementary School Delays Kindergarten Orientation

Farmersville Elementary School has a mold problem and a kindergarten orientation program scheduled for Thursday has been postponed.

Bethlehem Area School District officials have postponed a Farmersville Elementary School kindergarten orientation program scheduled for Thursday evening because of a mold problem in the building.

The district posted an announcement on its website saying that the facilities staff is working with D'Huy Engineering to put a cleaning plan in place.

The school may be closed on Monday to allow enough time to complete the cleaning, the announcement said.

The announcement doesn't specify how many classrooms are affected.

Officials said they postponed the kindergarten orientation program "out of an abundance of caution" and that teacher in-service was held as planned in the school Thursday.

The district is also battling a mold problem at North Hills Middle School.
