Man Shot to Death in South Bethlehem

Coroner says the death of Joseph Rodriguez, 25, was a homicide.

 

An E. Third Street man was shot to death in South Bethlehem early Sunday, according to the Lehigh County Coroner.

Joseph Rodriguez, 25, was shot on the 800 block of Argus Court at about 3:30 a.m., according to a news release issued by Scott Grim’s office. Rodriguez, of 1172 E. Third St., was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill.

The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the body and Grim has ruled the death a homicide, the news release said. The Bethlehem Police Department—which has not issued a statement—is also investigating the homicide, Grim said.

This is the second homicide in Bethlehem this year.

Tyree Wimberly, 21, of Allentown was gunned down Jan. 26 as he walked past Scoobie's Gentleman's Club, which sits at the border between Allentown and Bethlehem at 2327 Hanover Ave.

Police continue to search for suspect Ulysses "Slime" Rodriguez, 20, in that shooting.
