Police: City Man Sold Drugs to Undercover Cop

Alleged crack dealer met with undercover officer in the parking lot of Newburg Inn in Lower Nazareth Township in January.

  A Bethlehem man is charged with selling crack cocaine to an undercover police officer in the parking lot of The Newburg Inn in Lower Nazareth Township, according to court records. Juan Virgilio, 24, of 51 W. Spruce St., allegedly made the sale to an undercover officer on the evening of January 5, the arrest warrant says. Virgilio was arrested and arraigned on drug charges on Sunday night before he was committed to Northampton County Prison. According to the arrest affidavit: Virgilio is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communications facility (cellular telephone) – all felonies. It's good to see drug dealers off the streets, but what does this really accomplish in the long run? People are going to keep selling drugs illegally as long as it's profitable to do so...the only way to stop this is to decriminalize these substances. People are squeamish about the idea of drugs being sold legally, but we'd all be a lot safer if drug dealers didn't have such an enormous incentive…   more ›
