Take a Tour in Historic Bethlehem During Holidays

Walking tours by candlelight, horse-drawn carriage rides or a night ride to the Bethlehem Star among the attractions available in the Christmas City during the season.

  Historic Bethlehem welcomes in the 2012 holiday season with tours, events, and museum experiences that capture the spirit of Bethlehem's first Christmas in 1741 and today. Programming begins today and lasts through December 31. This will be the first holiday season in the Christmas City since much of the historic area was designated a National Historic Landmark District. The special holiday season offerings available include: A Christmas City Stroll – Discover Christmas City on a candlelit walking tour that explains the famous candle-in-every-window and sheds light on the beloved Bethlehem Star. Help Charities by Shopping Downtown Feb. 17-19

Bethlehem's "Shop for a Cause" event runs from Feb. 17-19

"Shop for a Cause" will be held in two areas -  Bethlehem's historic downtown shopping district and the southside shopping and arts district from Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19. Here's how it works: Close to 30 businesses are participating. "Shop for a Cause" is organized by the Downtown Bethlehem Association.

Bethlehem's Colonial Quarter Floods Again

The Monocacy Creek has overtopped its banks in Bethlehem for the second time in two weeks

The rain just keeps coming and the Monocacy Creek has once again flooded Bethlehem's Colonial Industrial Quarter. Also, part of Santee Road near Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township is closed because of flooding, according to this Express-Times report. PennDOT says Green Pond Road between Farmersville Road and South Country Club Road in Bethlehem Township due to flooding from this week's heavy rain. The National Weather Service has extended its flood warning for small streams throughout Northampton County until 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. The forecast for Bethlehem includes a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day until Monday. The Monocacy Creek overtopped its banks, flooding Bethlehem's historic Colonial Industrial quarter on Sunday. Water spilled over roads, railroad tracks and even a few cars.
