Sands Table Play Up 12.6% as Rest of Pa. Drops

Overall casino revenue, including slots, down at Sands and across Pennsylvania in February, Gaming Control Board says.

Revenue from table games at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem continued to climb in February, even while overall statewide revenue figures declined, according to the monthly report issued Monday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. The Sands generated $12 million in gross revenue from table games in February, as opposed to $10.7 million in February 2012, an increase of 12.6 percent. The Sands has led all Pennsylvania casinos in table games play for 14 months running. But coupled with a 7 percent drop in slot machine revenue in February, overall revenue for the month at the South Bethlehem casino declined from $36 million to $35.5 million, or about 1.3 percent. Pa. Casino Revenue Up in August

Revenue at Pennsylvania's 11 casinos - including the Sands in Bethlehem - is up more than 5 percent over August 2011

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported on its web site that August gross revenue at the 11 operating casinos was $210,584,315, a figure 5.7 percent higher than gross revenue from slots in August 2011.  For the 10 casinos that were open for the full month of August in both 2011 and 2012, there was also an increase in slot machine gross revenue of 3.7 percent.  That comparison does not include the Valley Forge Casino Resort which opened at the end of March 2012. Tax revenue to the Commonwealth this August totaled $113,558,137. Slots Revenue Up 13% at Sands Casino in 2011

Sands and other Pa. casinos made more money in 2011

December's gross revenue from slot machines was almost 14 percent higher than revenue produced the previous year, according to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board this week. Slots revenue at Bethlehem's Sands Casino increased 13 percent - rising from $20.7 million in December 2010 to $23.4 million in December 2011. The only Pennsylvania casino that made more money from slots last year was Parx Casino in Philadelphia. The Sands set a record for table game revenue in August and also had a strong showing in October. Gaming Control Board Executive Director Kevin O'Toole says good weather, an improving economy, and continued fine-tuning of marketing by casinos likely fueled December's revenue growth. I wonder what contributed to the increase in slots revenue. If overall casino entries are up, than the average revenue should also increase. Could the rise in popularity of online slots have anything to do with this as well?   more ›
