Alleged I-78 Road Rage Shooter Brought to Pa.

65-year-old New Jersey man is extradited and arraigned in Northampton County on multiple charges, including attempted criminal homicide.

  A New Jersey man accused of firing a gun into a Bethlehem woman’s car as they both drove along Interstate 78 was brought to Pennsylvania on Tuesday to face charges. Lee Edwin Kish, 65, of Fanwood, was finally arraigned in Pennsylvania on multiple counts including attempted criminal homicide for the March 13 incident along eastbound I-78 in Lower Saucon Township. Kish was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail following his arraignment before District Judge Joseph Barner of Lower Nazareth Township on Tuesday afternoon. Kish had been held in Union County Prison in New Jersey since his March 22 arrest. According to the arrest affidavit, Kish shot through his own driver’s side view mirror when he fired a bullet, …

Attempted Homicide Victims Don't Show: Hearing Postponed

A preliminary hearing for Tony Ray Arvelo, accused in February double-stabbing on Ontario Street, is postponed when his alleged victims fail to appear at court.

An Allentown man facing a charge of attempted homicide for a February stabbing in South Bethlehem had his preliminary hearing postponed on Tuesday because his alleged victims did not show up. Northampton County Assistant District Attorney Robert Eyer told District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez that efforts to locate the alleged victims, Marianna and Angel Rodriguez, were unsuccessful. Matos-Gonzalez granted the continuance for a hearing for defendant Tony Ray Arvelo, but ordered that subpoenas be issued to the alleged victims for the rescheduled hearing. Marianna and Angel Rodriguez were stabbed at an apartment at 502 Ontario St. after a fight and during a party on Feb. 9, according to Bethlehem police. Arvelo, 24, of 618 Chew St., is charged…

Attempted Homicide Charge Dropped in Stabbing

Brooklyn, N.Y., man who stabbed a co-worker in a Bethlehem Township hotel pleads guilty to simple assault, harassment and will spend no more than 11 months in jail.

  A Brooklyn, N.Y., man who stabbed a co-worker in the chest in a hotel parking lot in Bethlehem Township will serve between 5½ and 11 months in Northampton County Prison as a result of his plea deal in court, The Express Times reported. Asani Wahid Elliott, 20, pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment before Northampton County Judge Anthony Beltrami on Tuesday, the newspaper reported. Elliott had also been charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault, but those charges went away in the plea deal. The newspaper report said prosecutors were dealing with an uncooperative victim, Vincent Dukes of Alverne, N.Y., in the case. Homeless Man Charged in Machete Attack

Argument between two homeless men near Schoenersville Road leads to one hitting the other in the face with a machete, according to police. Attempted homicide charge filed.

  A homeless man who most recently slept in a wooded area just north of Schoenersville Road was jailed after he allegedly struck another homeless man in the face with a machete, police said. Levine H. Koerner, 57, was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats following his arrest Monday night. His victim, Richard Heilman, 42, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg for treatment. Heilman was “bleeding profusely from a large gaping wound to the right side of his face,” according to the police media report. Police: Zoning Board Member Stabbed by Nephew

William Fitzpatrick was allegedly stabbed in the back three times by his nephew, apparently upset with uncle's attempts to evict him from family home.

  A member of the Bethlehem Zoning Hearing Board was stabbed in the back multiple times on Monday by his nephew, who has been charged with attempted homicide, according to court papers. The victim, William Fitzpatrick, was talking to police after the incident and is expected to recover from his injuries, barring any complications, according to The Express Times. The suspect, John E. Bragg Jr., might have been upset that Fitzpatrick had been trying to evict him from his home at 256 E. Goepp St., where the stabbing occurred, according to court records. Fitzpatrick told police that he is the executor of the estate of Jack Bragg Sr., who was his brother and the suspect’s father. Two weeks earlier, Bragg was ordered to leave the house but …

Attempted Homicide Charge Held in Hearing

New York man who stabbed co-worker in front of Bethlehem Township hotel must face attempted homicide charge in Northampton County Court.

  An attempted homicide charge against a New York man accused of stabbing a co-worker in the chest during a July altercation outside of a Bethlehem Township hotel was held for court in a preliminary hearing Thursday, The Express-Times reported. Despite claims that Asani Wahid Elliott, 19, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was acting in self-defense, District Judge Joseph Barner declined to drop the attempted homicide charge against him. The matter now moves on to Northampton County Court. Elliott is accused of stabbing Vincent Dukes, 23, of Alverne, N.Y., in the chest with a five-inch serrated steak knife outside the Comfort Inn hotel on Highland Drive on July 5. Suspect Visited Police Minutes Before Assault

Michael Lindgren stopped by Bethlehem Police headquarters moments before he allegedly beat and bloodied his parents in their Historic District home.

  At five minutes after midnight Tuesday, Michael Lindgren walked into Bethlehem Police headquarters at City Hall and asked for help, but he became agitated and left before help was delivered. Less than 20 minutes later, according to court papers, officers responding to a home alarm just a few blocks away saw Lindgren walk out of 209 E. Wall St., his hands and shoes covered in blood. An officer who detained him heard Lindgren spontaneously mutter: “I had to kill them.” Inside the front door, police found Shirley Lindgren – Michael’s mother – lying unconscious in a pool of her own blood. Police: Son Tried to Kill Elderly Bethlehem Parents

Victims, 78 and 77, both suffered severe head trauma in attack in Historic District home. Suspect told police he 'had to kill them.'

  A 51-year-old man is accused of beating his elderly parents inside their Bethlehem North Side Historic District home late Monday night, police said. Michael Lindgren, 51, was observed leaving the house at 209 E. Wall St. as police responded to an alarm that had been sounded from the home at a little after midnight. The suspect had bloodied hands and feet and told police that he “had to kill them.” Just inside the front door, police found his unconscious 77-year-old mother who had been “severely beaten,” police said. His unconscious 78-year-old father, who had also been beaten, was found in an adjoining room. Argument Over Buying Liquor Led to Stabbing

Name-calling and fisticuffs ensued after men couldn't buy alcohol at state liquor store.

  A man accused of stabbing a co-worker outside of a Bethlehem Township hotel on Thursday afternoon told police that he was “enraged and furious” after his victim cursed at him and they exchanged punches outside of a state liquor store across the street, according to court papers. The victim, Vincent Dukes, 23, of Alverne, N.Y., even admitted to police that he threw the first punch at the Bethlehem Square Shopping Center along Route 191, an affidavit says. According to an eyewitness, the argument began because Dukes was upset that he could not buy alcohol at the state Wine & Spirits shop in the mall. Argument over a revving engine led to shots, city police said. Suspect allegedly returned to scene with sawed-off shotgun and fired into house.

  Two Bethlehem men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in which a man and a woman who is six months pregnant were injured in the Marvine-Pembroke section of the city Tuesday afternoon, police said. Joesyan Miranda, 21, of 375 Hamilton Ave., and Robinson Moyo Torres, 40, of 2018 Fifth St., were taken into custody in the area of Airport Road and Catasauqua Road in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, by city and state police, according to a Bethlehem Police Department news release. The incident, which happened at about 4 p.m., was precipitated by an argument over an engine revving, police said.
