Woman Charged with Forging Prescription for Painkiller

Kersten Miller lives in Upper Saucon Township, but pharmacist Richard Reed recognized her as a regular customer at Young’s Pharmacy in Bethlehem Township. Miller came in on the afternoon of Nov. 12 to fill a prescription for the painkiller Vicodin. It had been filled out by an orthopaedic surgeon with an office near Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest. The prescription looked fine, except for the number of pills requested – 140. It looked as if someone added a “1” before the “40.” Reed called police, and that led to Miller, 24, being charged with forgery and controlled substance by fraud, deceit.
