Bethlehem Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a man suspected of making candy thefts at Wawa convenience stores in the city. The thief is described as being in his 50s, with gray hair and wearing a blue jacket. On Friday, police released a surveillance photo of the suspect. Police were called to the Wawa at 741 E. Broad St. about 2 p.m. Tuesday after the suspect tried to run off with 114 candy bars valued at $141.90. According to police, he tried stuffing them into a black shopping bag, but “got spooked when an employee came out of the restroom and noticed what he was doing.” He fled from the store and got into a silver-colored car. The same suspect is believed to have made a successful candy theft at the Wawa at Eighth …

Gas prices in the United States have dropped by 10 cents in the last three weeks, according to the Lundberg Survey of fuel prices, which was released Sunday. The Associated Press reports that the average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.38. In the Bethlehem area, the cheapest places to fill up your tank Monday were Wawa on Eighth Avenue and Easton Avenue where gas is $3.46 a gallon. Prices were considerably lower in New Jersey, with gas stations there charging $3.20 a gallon, according to figures from MapQuest. Trilby Lunberg, publisher of the Lunberg Survey, told CNN the drop in prices was due to problems at refineries being resolved, as well as a seasonal drop in demand for gasoline. The CNN report notes that the cost of gas…

19-year-old employee of Easton Avenue Wawa is second to be charged in scheme to steal from convenience store.
A 19-year-old Wawa employee in Bethlehem – implicated by a fellow employee with participating in a scheme to steal cash and cigarettes – has been taken into custody and charged. But Jasmine Santana, like fellow employee Andrew M. Medina, is disputing police and Wawa about how much she actually stole, court records say. Unlike Medina, 18, who was charged last week, Santana was not jailed after her arraignment. She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail Monday morning. Santana and Medina confessed to police and a Wawa official they used a manager’s code to steal cash and cigarettes from the 2525 Easton Ave. store between Oct. 1 and Wednesday (Nov. 21), the records say. The Wawa official put the total take at $5,340. Medina contends he stole…

18-year-old convenience store employee is accused of using a manager's code to steal thousands, though he disputes amount authorities say he took.
An 18-year-old employee of a Bethlehem Wawa is accused of using a manager’s code to steal more than $5,000 in cash and cigarettes from the store in the last seven weeks, court records say. Andrew M. Medina of 1551 Irene St., Apt. 301, Bethlehem, admitted to police and a Wawa official he participated in the scheme, but he disputed the amount of money and cigarettes he stole, the records say. He said he stole around $3,000 in cash and cigarettes from the store at 2525 Easton Ave. He also implicated a female store employee with taking more than $2,000 in cash and cigarettes – for a total take of $5,340, the records say. Medina was jailed Wednesday night after failing to post $15,000 bail. The female is identified in the criminal complaint …

Where's the best spot in your community for Romney or Obama to campaign? Tell us in the comments section below. It was a controversial campaign stop since Romney was set to visit one Wawa but showed up at a different location when protesters and former Gov. Ed Rendell rallied at Romney's original destination. Here's a rundown of commentary on Romney's "Wawa-gate" including everything from the finer points of hoagies versus subs to the text of Romney's speech at the event.
