Former Whitehall Township Commissioner Dan McNeill will be the new Democratic nominee for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives 133rd District. The Pennsylvania Democratic Party Executive Committee on Monday approved McNeill, who was recommended by party committee members within the legislative district, The Express-Times reported. Brennan, a three-term legislator from Fountain Hill, withdrew from the race after being charged with assaulting his wife and driving drunk two weeks ago. McNeill received 15 of 40 votes placed by Democratic committee members from within the legislative district on Sunday night – the most out of a field of eight candidates, the newspaper reported. The Democratic legislator had been seeking his fourth term as representative from the 133rd District. State Rep. Joseph Brennan was accepted this morning into a first-time offenders program that will allow him to avoid having a criminal record as a result of a June drunk-driving arrest in Bethlehem, according to published reports. As a condition of his acceptance in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, Brennan was ordered to serve 25 hours of community service, to continue his treatment for alcohol abuse, attend Alcohol Highway Safety classes and serve six months of probation. State Rep. Joseph Brennan applied for a first-time offenders program during his formal arraignment on drunk driving charges in Northampton County Court, according to this report in The Morning Call. Brennan, a 47-year-old Democrat who lives in Fountain Hill, requested entrance into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program today. If the request is granted and Brennan completes it, the record of his arrest would be expunged. Brennan was arrested on June 22 after eyewitnesses at the Wawa on E.
