19th Birthday Party With Booze, Guns Draws Cops

Revelers celebrating Bethlehem woman's birthday fired a .38-caliber pistol in the air as they drove to buy more liquor, police say.

  A Marvine-Pembroke teen-ager celebrated her nineteenth birthday by drinking booze and firing a couple of gunshots into the air as she and a few pals drove to a liquor store to buy more alcohol on Friday night, Bethlehem police said. Jasmine Mingo, 19, of 1327 Hilton St., and her friends Anthony C. Holmes, 21, of Bethlehem, and Alphonso Narciso Matos, 20, of Allentown, are all facing a number of charges as a result of the incident, which prompted multiple Bethlehem police squad cars to respond to—and briefly lock down—the Stefko Center. A fourth co-defendant listed in court papers as Eric Lamont Terry of Nanticoke has not yet been charged, though arrest affidavits against the others say he admitted to police that he had a bag of marijuana…

The minors were 19 and 20, so therefore they are adults. If they cannot make better decisions at this point in their life without mommy and daddy then the police might as well throw them in prison too because that is where they belong.   more ›

Police: SouthSide Man Fired Pistol at Neighbors

Shelton Powell, 38, allegedly fires stolen pistol at three people on a Wyandotte Street porch early Sunday, according to court records.

  A South Bethlehem man is accused of firing a stolen gun at neighbors on Wyandotte Street, then lying to police about his identity early Sunday, according to court records. Shelton Powell, 38, of 744 Wyandotte St., allegedly fired multiple shots over the heads of three people on the porch of 705 Wyandotte St. about 3 a.m., according to an arrest warrant. The victims told Bethlehem police that they heard the bullets whizzing past their heads. Powell then retreated into his home, the court record says. Police subsequently found a bullet hole in a neighboring home at 707 Wyandotte St., which caused damage to the home’s siding. Police obtained a search warrant for Powell’s home and, as a result, found a pistol that had been reported stolen, …

Gunman Who Shot at Police Sought by Authorities

Police seeking Del Robyn Fenty, who fired at Allentown police responding to a domestic call.

  Bethlehem Police have joined Allentown Police in asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect who shot at officers responding to a call on N. Third Street in Allentown. Del Robyn Fenty is described as 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 140 pounds. He is armed. “If you see him or have knowledge of his whereabouts, immediately call the police,” Bethlehem Police advise in their blog. According to The Morning Call, Allentown officers responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at 29 N. Third St. were greeted by gunfire from a second-floor window. Fenty was seen fleeing the area after the shooting, police told the newspaper. Three officers were taken to the hospital to be “checked out,” the newspaper reported.

Police: Allentown Man Fired Gun in Parking Deck

Allentown man fired gun in the air at Starters Riverport garage during argument with girlfriend, Bethlehem police say.

  Bethlehem police say an Allentown man fired a gun inside the Starters Riverport parking garage during an argument early Sunday. Mendez Niles, 24, of 619 N. 7th St., Apt. 3, got into an argument with his girlfriend around 2:15 a.m. and fired a gun into the air, according to court records. When police arrived, they stopped Niles' car on suspicion of driving while under the influence and found a handgun and spent round inside. Niles is charged with driving while under the influence, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and discharge of a firearm. He was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter in Wilson and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Two Arrested in Marvine-Pembroke Shooting

Argument over a revving engine led to shots, city police said. Suspect allegedly returned to scene with sawed-off shotgun and fired into house.

  Two Bethlehem men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in which a man and a woman who is six months pregnant were injured in the Marvine-Pembroke section of the city Tuesday afternoon, police said. Joesyan Miranda, 21, of 375 Hamilton Ave., and Robinson Moyo Torres, 40, of 2018 Fifth St., were taken into custody in the area of Airport Road and Catasauqua Road in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, by city and state police, according to a Bethlehem Police Department news release. The incident, which happened at about 4 p.m., was precipitated by an argument over an engine revving, police said. Shots Fired at Party with Underage Drinkers

City police investigating gunfire at party at Marvine-Pembroke.

  Bethlehem police are investigating an early Saturday morning incident in which no less than 10 shots were fired and one vehicle was damaged in the Marvine-Pembroke neighborhood. It was unclear whether there were any human victims of the gunfire. Police found blood to the rear of the scene at 1117 Fritz Drive, while one witness said someone was stabbed or shot. Police also said they found 10 bullet casings of two different calibers. Police were called to the scene shortly after midnight Saturday morning, where a party was being hosted. Five were arrested for underage drinking and the party’s host, Tashiana Ortiz, 22, was cited for furnishing alcohol to minors and having a disorderly house. Allentown Man Accused of Hitting Cop with Car

Bethlehem officer tried to stop him after he fired three gunshots outside of SouthSide bar.

An Allentown man was arrested on multiple charges after Bethlehem police officers allegedly saw him fire multiple gunshots at no one in particular before hitting a city officer with his car early Sunday morning, police said. Luis Ocasio-Perez, 22, of 503 Gordon St., Allentown, was allegedly seen outside of Starters Riverport, 17 W. Second St., pointing a handgun at others standing outside of the bar/restaurant. He then fired three shots, hitting no one, before getting into a black car, police said. What a shame. When Starters Rivrrport first opened up it was a nice place to eat and relax. Now, it is a place corrupt in violence. The people that work there are rude and the food is horrible. On top of that, they bring in music at night that draws the wrong crowd and s lot of trouble exists. The City should declare it a nuisance bar and shut it down   more ›

Shooting Shut 5 Points Thursday

Nobody hurt when shots were fired at busy intersection

Nobody was hurt when a Bethlehem man fired shots into a woman's car after 3 p.m. Thursday. Police shut down the busy Five Points intersection during a one-hour standoff with the gunman, according to this Morning Call report. The suspect was taken into custody but his identity has not yet been released.
