Bethlehem police say Roy Ortega-Caceres beat victim in the face and head before taking his wallet.
A SouthSide man, upset that another man owed him money and didn’t pay up, admitted to police he beat up the other man Wednesday night and stole his wallet. ”If you don’t have my sh--, I will kill you,” the victim said he was told by the suspect, Roy Ortega-Caceres. Court records do not say how much the victim owed him. Police found Ortega-Caceres, 38, inside Lynn’s Athletic Association on E. Ninth Street, not far from the fight scene on the 600 block of William Street. The victim said Ortega-Caceres got away in a red Mercury Cougar. Police found the car parked outside Lynn’s. 16-year-old boy facing adult felony charges after he allegedly tried to rob a bike from another teen and fired a shot into the Lehigh River.
A 16-year-old Bethlehem boy is in county jail and being charged as an adult for allegedly firing a gun and trying to rob another teenager on the Lehigh Canal towpath in Bethlehem Township on Sunday afternoon, according to court records. Samuel Junior Rodriguez of 1313 Marvine St. told township police he never really intended to rob the boy he confronted and that the gun he disposed of was a water pistol and not a real weapon. The weapon allegedly used in the incident was not found, the arrest affidavit says. City man charged with brutal beating and robbery near victim's home on E. Morton Street.
A Bethlehem man accused of severely beating and robbing another city man was apprehended late Tuesday night and sent to Northampton County Prison on a number of felony charges, according to court records. Cassady Ryan Condash, 29, who’s last known address was 1416 E. University Drive, allegedly punched and then kicked his victim in the head repeatedly, even after he had fallen to the ground during the brutal Sunday night assault, according to the arrest warrant filed by Bethlehem police. The victim, Thomas Jones of 506 E. An Easton man and woman are facing assorted charges for the daytime robbery of a woman in South Bethlehem that led to a car chase into Freemansburg Tuesday. Carlos Gonzalez, 35, and Amber Karom, 31, both of 1125 Lehigh St., Easton, are accused of robbing the woman during a visit to the Pantry 1 convenience store at 25 E. Morton St. at about 2:30 p.m. The victim, Charlotte Weaver, 50, a South Bethlehem resident, suffered minor injuries, which were treated at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. The suspects and victim were apparently acquainted, according to court records quoted in The Express Times. A man and woman accused of committing a robbery at Fourth and New streets in South Bethlehem Tuesday afternoon were quickly apprehended after a car chase into the neighboring borough of Freemansburg, police said. The robbery occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. and the victim, a woman, was injured during the robbery and needed to be treated for minor injuries at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, police said. A Good Samaritan saw the robbery and immediately called 911 to report the robbery, giving emergency dispatchers a description of the car, the license plate number and the direction of travel, police said. A Bethlehem man is accused of robbing and stabbing another man in broad daylight Thursday on the 1100 block of E. Third St., according to Bethlehem police. According to police, Luis Fernando Torres-Santiago, 40, of 643 Jischke St., grabbed a heavy gold Cuban link chain necklace and medallion from the neck of his victim, Anthony Bernardi. Bernardi was stabbed in the torso trying to retrieve the necklace, which was valued at $7,900 police said. Bernardi’s wounds were not serious and he was treated for his injury at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill. A Lehighton man accused of robbing the The New Street Book Shop on Wednesday told police he was trying to get $100 to buy a half-gram of crystal methamphetamine, according to court records. Daniel Fink, 28, of 123½ S. Fourth St., Lehighton, was caught in large part thanks to the effort of an off-duty Bethlehem police officer who, while passing by the bookstore, heard the clerk scream that she had been robbed. A Lehighton man has been identified as the suspect caught shortly after a Thursday robbery at The New Street Book Shop as a result of a quick-thinking off-duty Bethlehem police officer, who radioed other officers to join the pursuit. Daniel Fink, 28, of 123 S. Fourth St., Lehighton was charged with robbery and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000, Bethlehem police said. The $115 he allegedly stole from the bookstore at about 4:50 p.m. was recovered. According to police, Fink robbed the store owner as she was trying to make change for a $1 bill. Around the time some churches were holding Easter sunrise services, a Bethlehem man robbed a cab driver, pointing a black, semi-automatic handgun at the driver’s head and telling him “give me the f------ s---.” The robber got away with $156. But the driver and his passenger were able to direct police to the man, in part because they knew him from the neighborhood as “Manny” who lives right by the robbery site. In fact, the passenger told police she saw “Manny” enter 715 Broadway, which she knew was his address, according to court records.
