Pregnant Couple Killed in Hit-and-Run, Accused Driver Surrenders

Julio Acevedo surrendered in Bethlehem parking lot after three-day hunt; police say he is responsible for triple fatal hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn, N.Y.

A three-day manhunt for the driver police say is responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed a pregnant woman, her husband and their premature baby in Brooklyn, N.Y., ended Wednesday in Bethlehem, according to multiple published reports. Julio Acevedo surrendered in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill on Route 412 just off I-78 in South Bethlehem near Hellertown, according to WFMZ. He was in Lehigh County Court on Thursday morning and waived extradition back to Brooklyn, where he will face charges, The Morning Call reported. Acevedo had eluded capture since Sunday, when police say he fled the scene of a crash that killed a young couple in the Williamsburg section of the borough, according to The New York Times. Unbelievable! Something more needs to be done about these offenders that are driving under the influence. He was arrested last month, I'm sure his license was suspended and he is out again, this time he killed an entire family. Something needs to change and quick.   more ›
