Cops Chase Fleeing Teen Through Marvine-Pembroke, Police Say

19-year-old who has been charged with three summary crimes since January ran and resisted when police tried to apprehend him, court papers say.

  Bethlehem police were forced to chase a teenager who ran when an officer tried to pick him up off the streets of the Marvine-Pembroke neighborhood on a warrant Wednesday afternoon, according to court papers. As a result, Nixon Joel Montalvo-Velez, 19, of 1370 Fritz Drive, is facing more serious charges of escape and resisting arrest and he is in prison. According to an arrest affidavit, Officer Erik M. Kaintz spotted Montalvo-Velez walking along the 1200 block of Woodbine Street at about 12:40 p.m. Kaintz stopped his patrol car, got out and instructed Montalvo-Velez to stay where he was. Instead, Montalvo-Velez turned his back and ran east toward a park and then south toward apartments on Eastwood Road, police said. More police officers …

Man With Knife Says 'I'm Gonna Poke You': Police

Victim dodged knife by jumping into girlfriend's car, police say. Easton man arrested in alleged assault.

A man brandishing a silver-and-black pocket knife in a Bethlehem neighborhood ran toward another man while yelling “I’m gonna poke you,” prompting the victim to jump into his girlfriend’s car for protection, court records say. The accused, Tyler James Grays, 22, of Easton, then kicked the rear driver’s side door, causing a 12-inch-to-15-inch dent and $600 in damage, the records say. The records do not say what may have prompted the incident at 3 p.m. Tuesday on the 1300 block of Eastwood Road in Marvine-Pembroke. The other man told police he “quickly” jumped into his girlfriend’s 2012 Hyundai Elantra to get away from the charging Grays, according to court records. WANTED: Suspects in Marvine-Pembroke Shooting

2 men fired several bullets into victim on 1400 block of Marvine Street on Monday, police say. They should be considered armed and dangerous.

  Bethlehem police say they have obtained arrest warrants for two suspects in the Monday evening shooting of a man in the city’s Marvine-Pembroke neighborhood. Angelo Lopez is 38, about 5-foot-8 and weighs about 260 pounds, police said. Dan David Hernandez is 28, is also about 5-foot-8 and weighs about 160 pounds. Police are distributing photographs of both of the suspects, who should be considered armed and dangerous. Man Shot in Marvine-Pembroke Area, Police Say

Police searching for shooters after gunfire at public housing project Monday evening.

Police are investigating the shooting of a man in the Marvine-Pembroke area of Bethlehem. He was shot more than once, police say. Police responded to the scene at 5:35 p.m. Monday. A tactical response team surrounded a house for more than an hour but the shooters were not inside, according to a WFMZ report. The man was transported to St. Luke’s University Hospital. Police have not yet released the man's name or described the severity of his wounds, according to an Express-Times report.

Alleged Gunman, Back From Fla., Charged in Shooting

Kenneth Ortega, who had fled from Bethlehem following Jan. 31 Marvine-Pembroke shooting, arraigned for criminal attempted homicide.

  For Kenneth Ortega, captured earlier this month in Florida in connection with a Bethlehem shooting, the number “23” is significant. Ortega turned 23 on Saturday – Feb. 23. That was also the day he returned to the Lehigh Valley and was charged with shooting at two men – hitting one of them – on Jan. 31 in Marvine-Pembroke. The man who was shot was taken to the hospital by his mother, who witnessed the shooting, court records say. Ortega was taken into custody Feb. 7 in Polk County, Fla., east of Tampa. The court records say he is a “known member” of the Maniac Latin Disciple street gang. The records also say Ortega, known as “K.O.” and “Kenny,” was on probation for a 2010 robbery conviction. 22-year-old accused of attempted homicide in Jan. 31 Bethlehem shooting will be extradited from Florida back to Northampton County

Kenneth Ortega—also known as "KO"—was arrested in Polk County, Fla. and will be extradited back to Northampton County where he faces charges from a Jan. 31 shooting in the Marvine-Pembroke section of Bethlehem. Ortega, 22, is charged with: Ortega went to Florida by bus with a woman and child, according to a published report. Bethlehem Police say: "We expect to charge other individuals in connection with this offense and another person with harboring Ortega.  More details will be released as they are available." Police ID Suspect in Marvine-Pembroke Shooting

An arrest warrant has been issued for Kenneth Ortega, 22, of Bethlehem, who is suspected of Thursday afternoon shooting in Bethlehem.

  Bethlehem police have obtained an arrest warrant for the man they believe is responsible for the Thursday afternoon shooting in the Marvine-Pembroke section of the city. Kenneth Ortega, 22, of Bethlehem was identified as the suspect in the shooting in a news release issued this morning that also included a photograph. Police said they have obtained an arrest warrant from night-duty District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez that charges Ortega with two counts of attempted homicide, four counts of aggravated assault and other associated charges. Man Shot in Marvine-Pembroke Section of City

Bethlehem Police investigating 3 p.m. shooting on Fritz Drive. Initial reports are that wounds are not life-threatening.

  A man was shot at about 3 p.m. Thursday in the Marvine-Pembroke section of the city, though his wounds are apparently not life-threatening, Bethlehem police said. Officers responded to the 1100 block of Fritz Drive for a report of gunshots being fired there, police said. There were also reports that people were running away from the area. Fifteen minutes after the initial shooting report, St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill notified the department that there was a gunshot victim in their emergency room, police said. Detectives were on the scene and investigating, and more information will be released when it becomes available, police said.

Police: Woman Stabs Daughter's Ex with Steak Knife

After a heated argument in Marvine-Pembroke, a woman stabs her daughter's ex-boyfriend in the back, police say.

  The mother of a woman engaged in a heated argument with her ex-boyfriend in Marvine-Pembroke allegedly intervened by sticking a steak knife in the man’s back on Wednesday afternoon, according to court records. As a result, Candida Rosa Sostre, 53, of 1210 Flower Drive, Bethlehem, has been charged with aggravated assault and other counts. The injury to the victim, Ralph Hann, was not deemed life-threatening. According to court papers, Hann and the mother of his child, Ashley Rosado, had been engaged in a heated argument in which they had struck each other. Bethlehem Police Officer Zachary Beals wrote in the affidavit that he had visited Sostre’s Flower Drive home before for domestic disputes. Hann told police that he began to walk away …
