ER Doc's Call to Cops Leads to Wife Beating Charge

Wife tells police about long history of physical and mental abuse at husband's hands.

  A tip from an emergency room doctor led Bethlehem police to charge a city man with assaulting his wife and the wife telling police about “a long history of physical and mental abuse” by the husband. Court records say the wife also told police that after she and her husband got home from the hospital, he told her, “I should f----- kill you now.” She said the husband told her at the hospital, “If you make trouble for me, I will punch you square in the face.” Scott Charles Noone, 52, of 1965 Greenleaf St., is facing charges of terroristic threats and simple assault. Early on Friday, court records say, he threw a salt and pepper shaker at his wife “with such force” that it caused a contusion to her left breast. A criminal complaint filed by …

Get Out: A Mixed Bag of Summer Fun

Carnival rides, comedy, kids safety and the Big Bad Wolf on trial.

Although the summer is starting to wind down, there's no reason to bag the fun.  Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem is hosting its 50th annual Summer Festival, which raises funds to support patient care. Take the kids out for carnival rides and funnel cake. At Kids Day at the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, kids can learn about safety while touring fire trucks and emergency vehicles. If you haven’t tackled school shopping yet, it’s a great ruse to get the kids out for new sneakers, jeans and the latest styles from the Promenade. Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest Ranked Among Nation's Top Hospitals

Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest ranked among top 140 nationwide and first in region, followed by Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg and St. Luke’s, according to U.S. News & World Report

For the 16th year in a row, Lehigh Valley Hospital—Cedar Crest has made it to U.S. News & World Report’s 2011-2012 Best Hospitals list.  The hospital was ranked among the top 140 hospitals in three categories:  > Diabetes and endocrinology (No. 40). The hospital has a specific center for diabetes treatment, the Helwig Health & Diabetes Center, which emphasizes patient education and self-management, said Ronald W.
