Rape Plot Targeted Real Estate Agents, DA Says

State Police at Fogelsville and Berks-Lehigh Regional Police investigated a report by a saleswoman for Pulte Homes in Upper Macungie. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

  A 29-year-old Bucks County man has been charged with intending to subdue and sexually assault real estate agents by luring them into model homes, according to a press release from the Lehigh County District Attorney's office. Frank A. Yeager, of 111 Hickory Lane, West Rockhill Township, was charged Friday after an investigation by State Police at Fogelsville and Berks-Lehigh Regional Police. Police said he took steps toward committing the crimes. Yeager is charged with one count of criminal attempt rape, two counts of carrying firearms without a license, and one count of possessing instruments of crime, a misdemeanor of the first degree, according to the prepared release. Man, 31, Charged as Bicycling Bandit

An Emmaus man has been charged as the 'Bicycle Bandit' who allegedly robbed stores in four Lehigh County towns.

A 31-year-old Emmaus man is facing charges as the "Bicycling Bandit" who allegedly robbed six convenience stores and beer distributors in October and November, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney's office. The alleged robber is Steven Felton of 617 1/2 Walnut St., Emmaus. Police from Emmaus, Allentown and Whitehall, along with members of the Lehigh County Drug Task Force, arrested Felton at his Emmaus address Friday. He was arraigned Friday night by District Judge Michael Pochron of Salisbury Township and was committed to Lehigh County Prison. 5-Year-Old Boy's Death Under Investigation

Police are investigating the "suspicious' death of a 5-year-old Allentown boy who died Friday

Police are investigating the death of an Allentown child found unresponsive in his home Thursday night. Cashmiere Hill, 5, of 107 N. 12th St., was not breathing so his mother called 911 about 9 p.m. Thursday. He was pronounced dead at 2:31 a.m. Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital. An autopsy was performed Friday morning but the Lehigh County coroner's office issued a statement saying the boy's cause and manner of death are pending further investigation. The death is being termed "suspicious." The coroner's office and Allentown police are investigating, with assistance from the Lehigh County district attorney.

Ward Pleads 'Guilty But Mentally Ill' in 2011 West Bethlehem Slaying

William J. Ward stabbed and dismembered Trisha Sadler at their Cloverdale Road home in June 2011. He will spend the rest of his life in prison with no chance for parole.

  A 46-year-old Bethlehem man has pleaded guilty but mentally ill to first-degree murder in the June 2011 slaying of his girlfriend, whose dismembered body was found by police after a friend reported that the victim had not shown up for work. William J. Ward, who lived with the victim at 1860 Cloverdale Road, Bethlehem, entered the plea today before Lehigh County Judge James T. Anthony, according to a news release issued by the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office. Ward was charged in the death of Trisha Sadler, 29, whose body was found on June 17, 2012, in her home. Ward was taken into custody after a five-hour standoff with Bethlehem police. Ward will be sentenced to life in prison without parole, the DA’s office said. Lehigh County …

State Auditor Seeks Probe of Charter School

State Auditor General wants Lehigh County District Attorney to investigate Vitalistic Therapeutic Charter School in Bethlehem for questionable payments to staff and their family members, the Morning Call reports.

State Auditor General Jack Wagner is asking the Lehigh County District Attorney's office to conduct an investigation of possible "improper payments" made by the Vitalistic Therapeutic Charter School in Bethlehem, according to a story in The Morning Call.  Wagner's office released an audit Monday that found that the school's former Chief Executive Officer Naomi Grossman paid herself $100,000 in bonuses in addition to her salary to operate the charter school and its nonprofit preschool during the period of July 1, 2006 to Oct. 21, 2010.  The audit also found that some of Grossman's family members received compensation with no documentation about what they were paid for. Man Arrested for Killing Lehigh County Woman

Jonathan Nunez, 20, of Allentown is charged with killing Kimberly Cardona, whose body was found July 5 along Lanze Lane in Salisbury Township.

An Allentown man has been charged with killing 20-year-old Kimberly Cardona, whose body was found July 5 in a wooded area of Salisbury Township. Jonathan Nunez, 20, of 253 E. Fairview St. was charged with homicide Thursday, according to a release from the Lehigh County District Attorney's office. Cardona's body had been found by a man walking his dogs in the evening in the 2700 block of Lanze Lane, Salisbury Township. Nunez was to be arraigned in Lehigh County Central Booking. According to the release, the arrest affidavit states: Cardona, 20, of Whitehall Township had been missing since July 4, according to her family. Homicide Victim Had Been Set On Fire

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said authorities suspect the man found shot to death had been killed elsewhere, then dumped along Applewood Road.

The man whose body was found along Applewood Road in South Whitehall on Nov. 1 was possibly killed somewhere else and his body dumped there, where it was set on fire, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin told WFMZ.  Authorities on Wednesday released two forensic sketches of the man, who is believed to be a white male between 18 and 30 years old, in hopes that the public can help identify him. The sketches have yielded some calls, but so far "nothing concrete," Debbie Garlicki, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's office, said on Thursday. Martin said the man was not carrying identification, and if he was a transient, could be difficult to identify. Authorities checked with law enforcement across the state and country about …

DA, Coroner Release Sketches of Homicide Victim, Seek Help

The Lehigh County District Attorney and Coroner seek the public's help in identifying a homicide victim in South Whitehall.

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin and Coroner Scott Grim are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who was shot to death and whose body was found Nov. 1 along Applewood Drive in South Whitehall. The authorities released two forensic sketches of the homicide victim on Wednesday in hopes that the public can help identify him. The man is believed to be white and between 18 and 30 years old. He is estimated at 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3 and weighing about 160 to 170 pounds. He is described as having short light brown hair. He was wearing eye glasses and appeared to be wearing a plaid shirt and purple and black checkered socks. Basically, cops need to be able to match the DNA, dental records to something. If he was arrested previously and his DNA taken, for example, a match could be made that way.   more ›
