Fowler Family SouthSide Center to host a forum about careers and career training for restaurants, hotels and casinos.
Northampton Community College will hold its second annual Hospitality Career Forum on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Fowler Family SouthSide Center, Room 605, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem. The program is open to current and prospective students. Recent graduates will share their knowledge and professional experiences from the hospitality industry. These graduates include: NCC's hospitality program includes culinary arts, hotel/restaurant management, resort management, casino operations, and dining room operations. Learn about accelerated training programs in four high-demand fields.
Northampton Community College will host an information session from 5-7 tonight for veterans and others interested in learning more about accelerated training programs to prepare adults for employment in four fields that are considered high-demand occupations in Pennsylvania: machinery repair, geothermal heat pumps, electrical construction and air conditioning and refrigeration. Participants can earn a diploma in one year or less. The short-term training is being offered with support from the U.S. Department of Labor. A $1 million grant from the United States Department of Labor will enable Northampton Community College to offer four new non-credit diplomas to help veterans, laid-off or underemployed workers and others receive accelerated training to enter high-wage, high-demand jobs. Men and women interested in starting classes in August must attend an information session from 1-3 p.m. on June 12 or July 2 in Hartzell Hall on Northampton’s Main Campus at 3835 Green Pond Road in Bethlehem. They may choose to specialize in machinery repair, geo-thermal heat pumps, electrical construction, or air conditioning and refrigeration, all of which are considered high-demand fields in Pennsylvania.
