Would you feel safe on Dorney Park's Stinger roller coaster knowing riders have now gotten stuck on it twice?
Riders were stuck 138 feet off the ground for 90 minutes Wednesday on Dorney Park's new Stinger coaster. A rescue was averted when the park got the coaster moving again. The Stinger, an inverted coaster that flips riders six times, is new to Dorney Park this season. Dorney got the ride from Great America Park in California, where 24 riders got stuck on the ride (then known as Invertigo) for hours in 2009 because of a mechanical failure, according to a published report. No one was injured. Would you feel safe riding the Stinger? Vote in our poll and tell us in the comment section below. Eight new attractions at Dorney Park, which opens for the 2012 season today.
Dorney Park opens today for the 2012 season. Here are eight new things to expect this season: 1. Dinosaurs Alive! The three-acre Dinosaur Park features 32 life-sized animated dinosaurs. The largest is the Ruyang Yellow River dinosaur, which measures 30 feet in height and 72 feet in length. The attraction winds along a 2,500-foot path through a wooded area of the park. In six main scenes and nine thematic exhibits, the story unfolds -- when and where the dinosaurs lived, what they ate, how they protected themselves and the problems they encountered. The dinosaurs move -- and in one scene tremble -- and they roar. A few have interactive consoles that allow park-goers to guide their movements. There is also a dig site, where youngsters can …

As a season pass holder we go as soon as they open, head to the water park and stay for a few hours and then go home and have lunch at home. It works out well for us because we only live 15, or so mins, away. I can't take the crowds !!! Going after 5 is good too especially during the week. I too would never go there except for the kids.   more ›
