Philadelphia Eagles Blow Lead in Loss to Lions

Another field goal sinks the Philadelphia Eagles, 26-23, in overtime.

Disgraceful. After an ugly first half, the Philadelphia Eagles turned in an ugly fourth quarter in letting the Detroit Lions come back from 10 points down and win in overtime 26-23. Another three turnovers – including two Michael Vick interceptions – once again crushed the Birds. Former Gov. Ed Rendell summed it up best on a post-game show: "They suck." That pretty much covers it. The Lions couldn't get going for the first three quarters as the Eagles contained star wideout Calvin Johnson. The offense hasn't kicked it into high gear. The defense has been sound but not spectacular. And while Michael Vick has put the team in position to win five of its six games, his fumbles cost the Birds potential points where Vick never might have needed to be in that position. Also, Coach Andy Reid really hasn't shown ownership that he is doing everything possible to keep …

Five Little-Known Thanksgiving Facts

Give thanks and share some Turkey Day knowledge -- when you're not busy eating -- with friends and family.

It’s that special time of year again -- time for football, family and ridiculous amounts of food. Oh, and it’s also the time to give thanks for football, family and food. Especially football. Once you’ve put away that last bite of turkey and loosened your belt a few notches, I'm sure you'll have a tiny bit of room to ingest some Thanksgiving knowledge: 1. The first Thanksgiving was a harvest feast in Plymouth, Mass. It's widely acknowledged that in 1621, Pilgrims from the Mayflower broke bread with local Native Americans -- the Wampanoag Indians, to be exact. This three-day feast later became known as Thanksgiving. Everyone knows this one, right? What some folks may not know: 2. Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving a holiday. Lincoln must …
