Christkindlmarkt's Third Largest Crowd: 61,522

Bethlehem’s 75th year as 'Christmas City USA' turned out to be a memorable one as tens of thousands of people visited the city for its annual holiday celebration.

Christkindlmarkt celebrated a milestone by welcoming its one-millionth visitor and saw its third highest attendance ever marking a successful 2012 holiday season, according to a holiday season wrapup released by city officials. The highest visitor tallies for the holiday market are: Christkindlmarkt featured live holiday music, glassblowing demonstrations and 125 vendors offering handmade gifts, holiday ornaments and Christmas collectibles. The one-millionth guest was Autumn Gilbert on Dec. 14. One Christkindlmarkt Visitor to Win Lifetime Pass

Christkindlmarkt expects to welcome its 1 millionth visitor Friday and that person will win a season pass for life.

During its first 19 years, Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem has welcomed more than 950,000 guests to the Christmas City. This Friday, Dec. 14, one lucky visitor to the holiday marketplace will receive a very special gift - Christkindlmarkt season passes for life  - for being the one millionth person to attend the event. Christmas Village located at City Hall in Downtown Philly has the same vibe and is set up the same way.....big difference, it's free and to walk thru there you don't feel the 'stares' of those looking down their noses at the 'riff-raff' they allowed in. Light Show Kicks Off SteelStacks Holiday Celebration

Christkindlmarkt opens at its new venue where the blast furnaces will be lit for the holidays.

Christkindlmarkt, Bethlehem's holiday open-air market, opened for its 19th season on Thursday at ArtsQuest's new SteelStacks campus. In addition to the new venue, this marked the first time the market opened before Thanksgiving. Opening night was celebrated with a lighting ceremony. A special light show starring the old Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces will be repeated several times nightly through New Year's Eve. The light show is free. The market features 100 artisans, food, music and Santa Claus in addition to other entertainment. It will be open Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every weekend through December 18.
