Safe taken from Drift Court home contained $100,000, Bethlehem Township police say. Two grandsons and a girlfriend accused in the August heist.
A Bethlehem Township man was charged last week for his alleged part in an August burglary at his grandfather’s township home during which a safe containing $100,000 in cash was stolen. Timothy Paul Bohning, 24, of 2519 Riegel St., with the alleged help of cousin Zach Bohning, who lived with the victim, and his girlfriend Aubrey Arthur of South Bethlehem, broke into the house and stole the safe, along with a shoebox that contained another $3,300 in cash. The burglary at 3521 Drift Court, Bethlehem Township, happened in the early evening hours of Aug. 5 while the victim, Robert Bohning, was visiting the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. Charged with July 29 break-in at SouthSide home, Kevin Mamuzich allegedly wrote two letters to the victims asking them to drop charges.
A South Bethlehem man already facing a burglary charge for a July break-in on Montclair Avenue is facing an additional felony charge for writing to the victims from prison, according to court records. Kevin J. Mamuzich, 35, of 619 Pawnee St., allegedly wrote two letters to the victims of the July 29 burglary – which happened while the victims were still at home – requesting that they drop the charges against him. Mamuzich was charged with intimidation of witnesses, a class-one felony, on Friday and sent back to Northampton County Prison under an additional $150,000 bail following his arraignment before District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez. Kwame Allan McGriff is accused of wielding a silver hammer to break into Delta station on Easton Avenue Tuesday night.
A drunken man sporting dreadlocks “hanging below his shoulders” is accused of using a silver metal hammer with a black-handled grip to smash the entrance door of a Bethlehem gas station early Tuesday before fleeing, court records say. Kwame Allan McGriff, 25, was spotted not longer after – with the help of surveillance video – about two blocks from the Easton Avenue station. A Bethlehem man was jailed Sunday for allegedly burglarizing a house in the city while its residents were at home. Kevin Mamuzich, 35, of 619 Pawnee St. is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and loitering/prowling. According to court records, the owners of a home on the 400 block of Montclair Avenue discovered that someone was in their basement at around 2:20 a.m. Sunday. They called police and flagged down an officer who responded as they were following Mamuzich. Police say Mamuzich took an iPhone, a watch, $15 and an electronic heart meter from the home. He was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

South Bethlehem man broke into ex-girlfriend's apartment and sexually assaulted her after she got home, police say.
Bethlehem police have charged a SouthSide man with breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment three months ago, sexually assaulting her in the bathroom and breaking her $200 cell phone. The suspect, Jean-Carlos Morales-Benitez, 21, and the woman had a child together but were not “in any sort of romantic relationship” when the April 16 incident occurred, court papers say. He used to live with her in the apartment but left about a week before the incident and returned the key to her. A criminal complaint filed by city Officer Michael J. A warrant has been issued for a South Bethlehem man wanted for allegedly burglarizing a SouthSide home on Saturday, according to the Bethlehem Police Blog. Angel Lopez, 33, whose last known address is 941 E. Fifth St. is believed to be responsible for stealing four cast iron radiators from a property at 805 E. Fifth St., police said. Police said they have information that Lopez and a black male named “Sam,” who drives a pickup truck, is responsible for the theft. Anyone with information on Lopez’s location or about “Sam” is asked to call the city’s communication center at 610-865-7187. Detective Brad Jones is investigating the crime.

A DNA swab of the floor of a Bethlehem Township gas station after a burglary on Halloween 2009 has led to charges against a fired employee, who got away with $200 from the lottery register after spending just 17 seconds in the station, court records say. Marco Antonio Fuentes, 24, of 709 B Ramblewood Lane in Bethlehem’s Marvine-Pembroke neighborhood has been charged almost three years after the burglary at Rudy’s Gulf, 2900 Easton Ave. Township police investigator Stephen B. Bethlehem police say a man broke into his ex-girlfriend's home, stole her wallet and some jewelry, and then turned on all the gas burners on her stove. Kawan Morrison, 22, of 308 State St., was jailed Tuesday following an altercation with the woman at her Elm Street apartment. According to court records: An officer responded to a break-in call Tuesday evening at 912 Elm St. There, he found one of screens removed from a window, and smelled gas.
