Armed Robbery at Linden Street Gas Station Sunday

Bethlehem police report an armed robbery at a gas station on Linden Street Sunday afternoon.

At 1:53 p.m. Sunday, a man robbed the Express Gas and Food Mart at 2350 Linden St., according to the Bethlehem Police crime blog He parked his late model Volvo sedan on Jennings Street behind the business. Upon entering the store he was concealing his face by holding a purple in color piece of cloth over it. He held a pistol with his right hand and demanded money from the clerk as he pointed the pistol at him. The thief was weraing a dark colored T-shirt  and shorts, and he was wearing dark colored flip-flops. His shorts appeared to be white with an emblem toward the bottom of the material on his left side. Detectives should really have this perp locked up pretty soon. waiting for that updated report , ( I'm sorry but covering a little bit of your face and robbing a store in your flip flops is not a well thought out robbery ) it's just plain ol' pathetic. Thugs in Yankees Caps Trend Continues in Bethlehem

A trend of thugs wearing N.Y. Yankee caps is continuing with this week's armed robbery in Bethlehem

It's been two years since a New York Times writer highlighted the trend of thugs wearing New York Yankee caps as they rob and steal. The trend is alive and well based on this week's brazen daylight armed robbery of a Main Street jewelry store. Surveillance photos show both suspects sporting Yankees head gear. Of course, the Yankees are one of the most popular franchises in sports history. Acoording to the NYT report: "Sports marketing analysts say it is a matter of numbers: the Yankees sell more merchandise than any other baseball team." Why do you think thugs wear Yankees caps? The casino doesn't exactly attract high end cultural people to the community and most people that leave the casino do so with a lot less money in their pocket than when they entered. People without money do desparate things whether they are seasoned or not and Bethlehem citizens are not prepared to deal with big city style roberies and crime despite a very good police department.   more ›

5 Suspects in 3 Overnight Armed Robberies in Custody

Bethlehem Police have nabbed five suspects following three overnight robberies

Bethlehem medics spotted a suspect's car last night - a tip that helped police nab five people allegedly connected to three armed robberies overnight. The crimes involved two 7-Eleven stores and a group of women, according to the police department's Twitter feed. The tweet reads, "3 armed robberies overnight: Both 7-11s & group of females. City medics spot suspect car. Police now have 5 suspects & car in custody." Details of the crimes have not yet been released. It's not yet clear if the arrests are related to two 7-Eleven armed robberies in west Bethlehem on Sunday.
