Why am I running for Mayor?

On January 8th I announced that I am running to be the next Mayor of Bethlehem. This is my first post on "Local Voices," an introduction to my campaign and my vision for the future of Bethlehem.

Dear friends,

I am happy to join the Bethlehem Patch "Local Voices."Many of you may already know that after much consideration and reflection, I have decided to answer the call to run for Mayor of Bethlehem. I have launched my own blog on my campaign website and will be posting those blog posts here as well.

For the past 6 years I have been honored to serve on Bethlehem City Council. I am even more honored to have received so much support from friends and residents of Bethlehem who have encouraged me to take this next step of public service.

Bethlehem is a special place and I am proud to call our city home. I love this city and the idea of Bethlehem. The idea that we can live in a diverse community with strong neighborhoods and thriving downtowns.

There is no doubt about it, our city faces challenging times and I know that we need strong leadership so that we can continue to find new solutions to the problems we face. Progressive ideas, bold initiatives, and an ability to do what is best for tomorrow, not today, is what can guarentee that our city maintains its prominence and moves forward over the next decade. I believe I can be that leader.

I also believe that this election is not just about me, it is about all of us who share this vision in common and who wish to see a brighter future for Bethlehem. We will continue to move forward as a city as long as we work together, pursue our ideals with passion and determination, and commit to electing strong leaders and who will make difficult decisions for the benefit of our city.

I hope you will take a moment to watch my official announcement speech and continue to follow this blog as well as my campaign website for announcements, updates, and new iniatives. www.jwilliamreynolds.net
