¡Sabor! Latin Festival Continues at SteelStacks

Grammy Award winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra plays free concert at 6 p.m. Sabor! continues through Sunday.

 

The second annual celebration of Latino culture – ¡Sabor! Latin Festival – enters its second day today with a free concert at 6 p.m. by the Grammy Award-winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra.

¡Sabor! features live music by local, regional and national musical acts, as well as a wide variety of cultural programming presented by community organizations such as the Hispanic American League of Artists, Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley, Latin American Motorcycle Association and

The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, known for its contemporary take on salsa and other Latin music styles, will perform in the Musikfest Café starting at 6 p.m.

Festival guests will be able to enjoy music by a diverse array of performers showcasing the sounds of salsa, merengue, bossa nova, reggaeton and more.  Other artists set to perform during the festival include Cuban dance orchestra Cubanoson, Latin jazz fusion act Jaja Matsimela, Latin roots rockers Santa Mamba and BELEZA!, which serves up a unique blend of samba, bossa nova and other Brazilian sounds.

If you get hungry a variety of Latin specialty foods will be available enjoy at the different food vendors around the SteelStacks campus, including the Mike and Ike Bistro, the Musikfest Café and the Town Square Grill.

During the weekend children will be able to enjoy a variety of fun and educational activities including arts & crafts and hula hooping presented by Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley; bilingual storytelling presented by the Bethlehem Area Public Library's SouthSide Branch; dancing to a kids' DJ and more.

At 11 a.m. today, Latin percussionist Hector Rosado will present a free Latin and Caribbean Drum Workshop for kids as part of ArtsQuest's free Peas & Qs family series, while the Hispanic American League of Artists will showcase the various dances of Central and South America during a special performance at 3:30pm.

  • After the flag raising - Faces of the SouthSide, a dynamic photography exhibition featuring images captured by teens ages 13-17 from the Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley
