Inaugural SouthSide Bike Show on Saturday

Live music, a chili pepper eating contest, giveaways, vendors and motorcycles will be at the South Bethlehem Greenway on Saturday afternoon.

 

The rumble of motorcycles will echo through the streets of South Bethlehem Saturday as the city hosts its first-ever SouthSide Bethlehem Bike Show from 1 to 7 p.m.

The show will feature live music, a chili pepper eating contest and, of course, motorcycles.

For bikers a $20 entry in the show gets them a shot at one of five prizes in the categories of best classic, best custom, best paint, best in show and people’s choice.

Winners get a trophy and a gift certificate to a South Bethlehem business. Half of the proceeds collected in the show are going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and riders can still register on the day of the show, said Loly Reynolds, the events coordinator of the Downtown Bethlehem Association.

Most of the activity will center in the parking lot on Mechanic Street between Adams and Webster streets. It will be there that the motorcycles will be on display and a stage will be set up for live entertainment, culminating with the James Supra Blues Band at 5 p.m.

Participating riders can enter into a Poker Walk, which will take them to five locations ( , Horns, , ) with a scorecard to draw one card from each location. The merchants then mark their scorecard with the appropriate cards. When it is complete, each participant turns in the cards to the main organizer.

At 4:45pm at the main stage the player with the highest and lowest hand will be awarded a gift certificate from a downtown business.

George “The Salsa Guy” Gilreath is hosting the “Tongues on Fire” Chili Pepper Eating contest. Contestants can sign up from 1 to 3:45 p.m. The 20-minute contest will begin at 4 p.m. at the main stage near the Webster Street entrance to the lot.

There will also be a food court, featuring Easy Weenies, 4 Bandits BBQ, and . More vendors will be set up along the South Bethlehem Greenway.

The live entertainment schedule on the main stage is as follows:

  • 1pm-2pm: WZZO Van/Giveaways
  • 1:30pm: Krazy White Boys (stunt bike demo)
  • 2pm-3:30pm: Frank Porter (Acoustic Rock)
  • 3:30pm: Krazy White Boys (stunt bike demo)
  • 4:00pm: Chili Pepper Eating Contest
  • 4:30pm: Poker Walk Awards Ceremony
  • 4:45pm: Bike Show Awards Ceremony
  • 5pm-7pm: James Supra Blues Band
