Whiz Kid: 'Big Bob' Fiedler

11-year-old from Bethlehem Township could be varsity wrestler next year

○      Name: Robert Fiedler, age 11

○      School: Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bethlehem Township

○       Achievement: Took 3rd place in two JV Tournaments – East Penn Wrestling League K-6th grade and Northwest Jersey Midget Wresting League –competing with the Notre Dame High School Midget Wrestling.  “Bob has gradually improved his skills in the past two years,” says Notre Dame Head Wrestling Coach Bill Mains, “we used him in a few Varsity matches this year.  Even though he was over matched, he still went out and did battle, wrestling to the best of his ability.”

Key to Awesomeness: Bob is 5’4” and 105 lbs wrestling in a 115 weight class.  His key to awesomeness is “I can beat heavier kids even though I am a lighter weight with my cross face cradle move, when I have their arms and legs locked with my knee into their side,” said Bob. He started wrestling in 3rd grade and it was really hard because the kids were a lot older who were wrestling at the same weight.  “I was in 3rd grade, and they were in 6th.”  Since then, Bob has been a dedicated wrestler, practicing 3 times a week and wrestling in matches on the weekends. Robert ranks 3rd in his weight class, with a record of13 wins, 9 losses. “We expect Bobby to be on Varsity next year,” added Mains.
