Patch Picks: The Top Five Reasons to Root for the Pittsburgh Steelers

1.      Because it will kill Cowboys fans (and Roger Staubach having to present the trophy) for the Steelers to win in Dallas!

2.      You have to root for a team that has a guy whose hair is insured for $1,000,000.00

3.      At least the Lombardi trophy will be in Pennsylvania.

4.      Football is not supposed to be pretty, and the Steelers aren’t pretty.

5.      Maybe it will help all their older fans get over reminiscing about the 70’s and join the present time.

Bonus Reason: During WWII the Steelers and Eagles merged, the Steagles, due to a shortage of available men to play. So, in an alternate universe, rooting for the Steelers is really like rooting for the Eagles.

The Steelers are one of the favorite teams among football fans in Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley. It might be the desire to root for a team from the same state or the shared connection to the steel industry in Pittsburgh and Bethlehem. There is also a fair amount of Pittsburgh transplants living in this area.

However, there is also former city employee and City Council candidate Dana Grubb of Bethlehem, And in the interest of equal time, we have asked him to give us the top five reasons why the Packers should to win the Super Bowl:

1. Aaron Rodgers is playing the best of any quarterback down the stretch.

2. The Packers' defense is the equal of Pittsburgh's defense.

3. Their league best stable of receivers will play faster and better in an indoor stadium.

4. They are on a roll, having essentially played five play-off games in a row.

5. The Packers represent small town America.
