In a game that turned March Madness into craziness, No. 15 ranked Lehigh beat No. 2 seed Duke 75-70.
A lot of the credit for the victory went to guard C.J. McCollum, two-time player of the year in the Patriot League. He scored 30 points against the Blue Devils. And Duke’s coach, Mike Krzyzewski, told the media that McCollum was the best player on the court yesterday.
"I told my teammates all year whenever in doubt get me the ball and I'll make a play for us," McCollum said in an interview.
Mighty Duke is an NCAA powerhouse, losing in the opening round only twice before in 16 years. This was the Mountain Hawks first NCAA win in five appearances. The team last played in the tournament in 2010, loosing to Kansas 90-74.
Next, Lehigh will play No. 10 seed Xavier in Sunday’s third round. Xavier knocked off No. 7 Notre Dame Friday night.
