PBS39’s brand-new hour-long documentary, IronPigs: Fan-tastic, featuring never-before-seen interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of the club’s 2011 season, will debut Wednesday at Coca-Cola Park in an exclusive viewing to the general public at 7 p.m.
The program will debut on the air on PBS39 on April 9 at 9 p.m.
“We shot about 40 hours of footage to create this one hour documentary,” said Amy Burkett PBS39 Television Station Manager and executive producer. “We’re so excited to share the finished product with our community. We consider it a gift to our region to wrap up the first five years of IronPigs baseball in a beautiful bow highlighting an incredible season in this program.”
IronPigs: Fan-tastic producer/writer Laura McHugh added, “In this documentary, we wanted to explore the magic that makes the Lehigh Valley IronPigs fantastic. We found fans eager to share their stories and help us understand how this team has united our community and given the Lehigh Valley a team to call its own. I had an incredible opportunity to interview so many fans and players during the 2011 season and consider it an honor to share their stories in this documentary.”
The PBS39 crew tracked the IronPigs’ 2011 record-breaking season with unprecedented access to players, coaches and front office personnel, resulting in one of the most unique sports documentaries ever produced.
Fans attending the screening can walk the red carpet upon entering Coca-Cola Park and PBS39 will capture all of the evening’s excitement with a live broadcast from 5 to 6 p.m.
Fans are also invited to enjoy the 2012 IronPigs first workout of the season from 5 to 6:30 p.m. as the club prepares for its season opener against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on April 5. Tickets are just $5 and are on sale at ironpigsbaseball.com, by calling (610) 841-PIGS (7447) or at the Coca-Cola Park ticket office during normal business hours. 100% of the proceeds from this event will benefit the non-profit organizations PBS39 and IronPigs Charities.
