Back to the Roots Contra Dance

Dudley Laufman, winner of the nation's highest award in the traditional and folk arts, the NEA National Heritage Fellowship, will call for this Back to the Roots contra dance.  Accompanied by his wife Jacqueline on fiddle and mid-Atlantic favorite Jill Smith on piano.  Many of today's top callers and musicians learned at Laufman's dances in the 1950s and 60s and carried the art nationwide.

Informal, sociable, lively partner dancing.  Come at 7 to learn the moves and ease right into dancing at 7:30.  Newcomers, singles, couples, families, ages 7-77 welcome.  You don't need to bring a partner; presentable partners available on site.  The live music is an entertainment in itself.
