Bethlehem Man Wins Maine Ocean Swim Race

Swimmer from Bethlehem won ocean water race in Portland, Maine on Saturday

Scott Yeomans, 48, of Bethlehem, won a 2.4-mile ocean water swim race in Maine on Saturday. He also won the race last year.

Yeomans completed the 31st annual "Peaks to Portland" ocean swim in 45 minutes and 32 seconds. The race took swimmers from Peaks Island in the harbor of Portland, Maine to the city's East End Beach.

Swimmers were guided by spotters in kayaks.

Yeomans swam competitively while he was a student at Cornell University, according to the Maine Sunday Telegram.

More than 300 swimmers finished the race, which is a major fundraiser for the local YMCA.
