Swain School Graduates Class of 2012

Twenty-four eighth-graders graduated recently from The Swain School in Salisbury Township.

 

graduated 24 members of its eighth grade at ceremonies on June 11.

Two members of the class, Lara Thrapp of Bethlehem (Saucon Valley School District) and Kevin Loughlin of Allentown (Salisbury School District) addressed the gathering of family, friends, fellow students, faculty and staff.  Swain alumnus Gabe Vidoni ’96 presented the commencement addresses.

Diplomas were presented by Head of School Todd Stansbery, Middle School Director Kyle Armstrong, and James Nallo, president of Swain’s Board of Trustees to:

Five members of the class: Linda Cordero, Olivia Morton, Lara Thrapp, Nick Silvaggio and Tyler Wilson were honored as “lifers”: students who started in Swain’s program for three-year-olds and attended Swain through eighth grade.

These special awards were given:

The Susan E. Clegg Memorial Award (given to the student who best represents the qualities of kindness and consideration for others and who exemplifies the spirit of harmony and unity in the Middle School: Shelby Nickerson
 
The Swain School Award (awarded each year to the student who best reflects the qualities of citizenship, scholarship and sportsmanship): Linda Cordero

The James Edgar Swain Memorial Award (awarded to the student who best represents the spirit of The Swain School in terms of honor, integrity and commitment to high ideals): Lara Thrapp

Head of School Society (awarded to those students who maintain an A- or better average for each marking period for grades 6-8): Jade Appel, Leo Hochberg, Olivia Morton

All Sport Award (given to any student who has played three sports for all four years of Middle School): Jade Appel, Linda Cordero, Crosley Kudla-Williams, Robert Rosenfeld, Lara Thrapp
