Schedule of Freddys Plays Released

Record setting number of schools participating in 10th anniversary Freddy Awards.

 

All five Bethlehem area high schools are among a record number of 30 regional schools participating in the State Theatre’s 2012 Freddy Awards, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The State Theatre on Wednesday released the list of participating schools, including for the first time, Nazareth High School. It also released a schedule of all of the participating schools performances.

  • presents Man of La Mancha on February 24, 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.
  • presents Thoroughly Modern Millie on March 15, 16, 17 at 7 p.m. and March 18 at 2 p.m.
  • presents Les Miserables on April 12, 13, 14 at 7 p.m.
  • presents The Wizard of Oz on April. 13, 14 at 7 p.m., April 15 at 2 p.m., April 20 at 7 p.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m.
  • presents Little Women on April 19, 20 at 7:30pm and April 21 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The Freddy Awards recognizes accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theater in high schools in Lehigh and Northampton counties, as well as Warren County, N.J.

Last year, for its production of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, but won no awards. for its production of HONK! Bethlehem Catholic and Notre Dame won one award each.

A list of the participating schools, along with their productions and performance dates, is available at www.freddyawards.org, and can also be accessed through the Freddy Awards iPhone application, available for free at iTunes. 

The program will culminate on Thursday, May 24, in a three-hour televised awards ceremony from the State Theatre.
