SADD Chapter at Freedom High Wins $100,000 Grant

Freedom High School’s Chapter of Students Against Drunk Driving have won a $100,000 grant from State Farm Insurance to promote student and citizen safety in the Bethlehem Area School District, district officials announced during the week.

The grant will allow SADD to make something they are calling “Project S.O.S.” a reality.

The mission of "Project S.O.S. (Students Own Safety)" is to promote students' academic growth, emotional intelligence, and community involvement through theatre.

Students will actively engage in planning, developing, implementing, facilitating, and measuring creative ways for citizens of all ages to "buy into" their own safety.

They will utilize peer coaching, mentoring, expert speakers, humor, and out-of-the-box thinking to achieve project success among students all throughout the district.  

Freedom’s SADD chapter attained 4,641 votes through on-line and social media polling to win the grant, the third highest amount any group received nationwide.
