NCC Offers New Medical Coding Course

Northampton Community College is starting a course "Medical Coding Made Easy" in October at the Fowler Family Southside Center in Bethlehem.

Northampton Community College is offering a new course, Medical Coding Made Easy.  The class will cover the new ICD-10 medical coding that will become mandatory in October 2013.  There is a course for new coders and current coders.

The new coders' course is designed for a coder with less than one year of experience in billing and coding and focuses on fundamentals and the transition to the new ICD requirements.  Students take the certification exam at the last class.  This class will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays, October 1-31, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third Street, Bethlehem.  The fee is $700 plus a $100 certification exam fee. 

The current coders' course is designed for current coding professionals with mid-level experience who want to familiarize themselves with the ICD structure and ensure a smooth transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10.  The classes will be held Saturday, September 22, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 13, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and November 10, 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.  All classes will be held at the Fowler Family Southside Center.  The fee is $220.
