McCollum Will Return to Lehigh for Senior Year

Mountain Hawks star guard withdraws name from NBA draft and will return to play for Lehigh in his senior year.

 

Lehigh University’s star guard, C.J. McCollum has decided to withdraw his name from the professional draft and return to the Mountain Hawks for his senior year, according to this article he wrote for Sports Illustrated.

“I believe that finishing up my degree at is an essential and pivotal step in the right direction for my future career in Journalism and Sports Broadcasting,” McCollum wrote.

“Growing up, I promised my mother I would complete my degree and although there is no time limit, I feel like the time is now.”

McCollum keyed Lehigh’s in the second round of the NCAA tournament last month with a . Soon after that, he without selecting an agent to represent him, leaving the door open to withdraw.

Writing from his hometown in Canton, Ohio after “a solid sermon on Easter Sunday at Macedonia Baptist Church,” McCollum said he felt confident in his decision.

“I must say it certainly has been gratifying to learn that there was a high likelihood I would have been drafted and had a chance to continue my dream of playing in the NBA,” he wrote.
