Lehigh University Adds 755 Acres in Upper Saucon

In an e-mail sent last week, Lehigh President Alice Gast announced the acquisition of land in Upper Saucon Township.

A land transfer deal brokered last week will make the largest landholder in Upper Saucon Township. 

The 755-acres piece of land, east and south of the  stretches roughly from 378 to 309. Lehigh is aquiring the multi-million dollar tract of land from the Donald B. and Dorothy Stabler Foundation. Donald Stabler, an alumni, has a history of large donations to the university, which named their arena and observatory platform after him.

According to recent reports, Lehigh University and the Stabler Management Company aren't commenting as to whether the land was purchased or donated until the deal closes later this month.
