Easton Hands Freedom A Football Playoff Loss

Easton Red Rovers advance to semifinals with 35-28 triumph over Freedom Patriots.

Bethlehem's Freedom High School Patriots started the football game off on the right foot getting on the board first with a touchdown early in the first quarter. The Patriots held the Easton Area High School Red Rovers scoreless in the quarter and entered the second quarter with a 7-0 lead.

Momentum shifted to the Red Rovers in the second quarter. A combination of turnovers and intercepted passes by Freedom would take them out of the game until the final seconds of the half. Easton scored 28 points on four touchdowns in the first six minutes of the quarter to make the score 28-7. The Patriots got back in the game when Domoree Hill fought off Ian Hayden for the catch in the end zone. That made the score 28-14 in favor of the Red Rovers at the half.

Freedom attempted a comback in the second half but it wouldn't be enough to catch Easton. The Patriots scored a touchdown in the third quarter to cut the Red Rovers lead to 28-21. Early in the final quarter Easton put some distance between them and Freedom again by adding another touchdown to make their lead 35-21. The Patriots pulled to within a possession of the Red Rovers with their fourth touchdown of the night to make it 35-28 with about seven minutes remaining. Easton went on to hold Freedom down the rest of the quarter for the victory.
