An event Wednesday night at Broughal Middle School will spotlight one school district's efforts to "green" its school cafeteria diet and serve more healthy meals to students.
Cafeteria Man will be shown through the efforts of the Kellyn Foundation and a variety of local arts and community initiatives.
The feature-length documentary film highlights the efforts of Baltimore to improve the school food for 83,000 students. The film chronicles how processed, pre-prepared foods were replaced with locally grown, freshly made meals.
Prior to the showing of the film at , there will be a reception highlighting local farmers at 6 p.m.
The film, scheduled for 7 p.m., will be followed at 8:20 p.m. by a discussion panel featuring co-founders of the Kellyn Foundation, Megan Grega and Eric Ruth; Richard Chisholm, co-director of Cafeteria Man; Edward Docalovich, principal of Broughal Middle School; Robert Irving of Sodexo, and Jeffrey Frank, a local organic farmer.
The event is free and open to the public.
