Bethlehem Area Schools Closed for Dangerous Wind Chills

Single-digit temperatures and high winds will make it feel like 20-below zero on Tuesday.

With a weather forecast calling for dangerous wind chills, the Bethlehem Area School District has decided to keep schools closed on Tuesday.

There will also be no SPARK program for early childhood education, but combined childcare centers will open at 7 a.m., according to the district’s Website. District offices will also be open.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for all of the Lehigh Valley beginning at midnight Monday and lasting through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Temperatures are not expected to climb out of single digits on Tuesday, with windy conditions that will make it feel more like 20-below zero, according to the weather service.

Prolonged exposure to that kind of cold can bring on hypothermia and frostbite in minutes.
