This Week's Leaf Collection Schedule

Leaf collection continues on North and West sides Monday through Wednesday.

Bethlehem’s Department of Public Works continues with leaf collection on the North and West sides of the city Monday through Wednesday. There will be no leaf collection on Thursday and Friday because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Streets Bureau asks that city residents adhere to the following guidelines:

Please place loose leaves in the street the day before your scheduled pick up date. Do not place leaves in the street early or after your scheduled pickup date to avoid problems with drainage and/or vehicular access.

Please do not place leaves in the street after your scheduled pickup date, unless they are in brown earth bags.

Plastic bags or leaves covered with tarps will not be accepted.  If you choose you can also bag your leaves in brown earth bags (available at the Compost or Recycling Centers; they are sold for two for $1), call (610) 865-7065 to inform us of the number of bags you have, place them curbside, and they will be scheduled to be picked up.

Branches, sticks, grass or other yard waste will not be accepted.  Please do not place leaves under or close to vehicles because we will not be able to pick them up.

Also:

  • Remove cars from scheduled streets whenever possible- leaves under vehicles will not be removed.
  • DO NOT mix branches, grass or garbage with the leaves.
  • Branches may be taken to the Compost Center.
  • If it rains, the sections will be done on the next possible day.

The anticipated schedule may vary from time to time depending on weather and workload.  Any questions should be directed to the Public Works Streets Bureau at (610) 865-7065.

Rumor has it that next year, in the spirit of the City of Betlum collecting leaves earlier and earlier in the season, the city is investing in a,"still on the tree leaf vacuumer". If I recall, the product's name is ARBOR SUCK.
If you are fortunate enough to have your area scheduled extremely early for leaf pickup this year, when hardly any leaves have fallen from your trees, next year you will have to do no raking as the city will vacuum the not yet fallen leaves directly from your trees! SWEET HUH?

Just pointing out facts. You are also forgetting that money withdrawn from an IRA or 401k (exceptRead More Roth IRAs) are taxed at withdrawal. I prefer my government not punish good financial actions. Sorry it's a quirk of mine, I think we should reward those who make good decisions, not punish them.

I agree with you Interested Bystander. Problem is that if you punish the ones making the badRead More decisions, the Federal government will be punished all the time. In the current climate, poor decision making gets rewarded by voters. The middle class doesn't have a chance.

Naziti and Caroline Johnson so sorry to take so long to get back to you from your comments onRead More Sunday, May 5th, I didn't think I would have to respond. I re-posted Ken's comment because the REAL issue is "AARP selling out it's faithful supporters for BIG MONEY. So let me break it down so even the Soros trolls understand. ObamaCare guts SS and medicare reserve money by 750 Billion. Which ends these programs as we know them. AARP publicly backs ObamaCare. Seniors confused about OCare but trust AARP and their massive ad campaign for OCare. AARP contributes to re-election AARP becomes insurance provided for OCare. Unleashes host of insurance options that Seniors will be needing to make decisions about in next 2-3 years. Complicate the choices for Seniors so they fall back on who they have trusted in the past. Still unaware of the great deception perpetrated by AARP. OCARE fully enacted 2014. AARP gets steady $$$ insurance income now (not $16 membership fees for whoever posted that line above). SS and MediCare bankrupt (3/4 trillion $ stolen to fund OCare) Result for SENIORS. NO SS or MEDicare it's dissolved or becomes something less. Free OCare that sucks. Pay AARP for supplemental Ins. Prescriptions too expensive to purchase so go without or pay AARP for better plan. AARP richer and more powerful represents Gvmt Seniors - Self rule lost You see they screwed the very people that paid dues for their protection!
