Sands Leads Pa. Casinos in Table Games Revenue

Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem brought in $146 million in gross revenue from table games in 2012 -- the highest amount of any casino in Pennsylvania.

The Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem made more money on table games than any other casino in the state in 2012, according to a report issued Wednesday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

The South Bethlehem casino brought in more than $146 million in gross revenue from table games, far more than the state’s largest casino, the Parx in Bensalem, which grossed nearly $110 million. Sands table games play increased by $40 million – nearly 38 percent – in 2012.

The Sands grossed $291 million from slots machine play in 2012, according to a Gaming Control Board report issued earlier this month. That means the Bethlehem casino grossed a total of $437 million from gaming alone during the year.

The $40 million increase in table games revenue at the Sands accounted for more than half of the $68 million revenue gain the Gaming Control Board reported for all 11 casinos across Pennsylvania. Overall, Pennsylvania casinos grossed $687 million from table games in 2012.

December was also the second biggest revenue month for table games since Pennsylvania casinos added them in July 2010, according to the report. Gross revenue statewide for the month was $60.4 million. The Sands was the top earner with $13.5 million.

Pennsylvania casinos grossed nearly $3.16 billion in total revenue from slots machines and table games in 2012 – a 4.4 percent increase over 2011. Casino gaming produced more than $1.44 billion in tax revenue for Pennsylvania for the year, the report said.
