Rendell to Stump for County Executive Candidate
Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan gets backing from former Pennsylvania governor, who will headline at campaign rally next week.
Former Gov. Ed Rendell will be in Bethlehem on March 26 to campaign for Mayor John Callahan, who is making a bid to become the next Northampton County executive.
The well-known and often controversial Democratic media pundit will be the featured attraction at rally for Callahan at The Event Center at Blue in Bethlehem Township.

The Callahan campaign is suggesting a donation of $25 for those who attend the rally. The festivities are scheduled to get under way at 6 p.m.
“As a former fellow mayor, Ed Rendell understood the unique challenges that the city of Bethlehem faced,” Callahan said through a news release on Monday.

“I always knew Bethlehem had a friend in Harrisburg when Ed Rendell was Governor and I’m honored to have his support.”
While Governor Rendell was in office, Mayor Callahan served for two years as the President of the Pennsylvania Municipal League and was appointed to the statewide Ben Franklin Technology Board, which created the first keystone innovation zone in South Bethlehem.
Callahan is one of three Democrats running for the party’s nomination for Northampton County executive. The others are County Councilman Lamont McClure and former County Executive Glenn Reibman.
Bangor Mayor John Brown is the only Republican to enter the race.
