October was Banner Month for Sands' Table Games

Table games revenue at the Sands Bethlehem Casino bounced back from a sluggish September, pushing the South Bethlehem gambling palace back into first place in non-slots revenue among Pennsylvania casinos, according to information released today by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Table play at the Sands during October generated $10.7 million, nearly double the income generated a year earlier and $700,000 more than the Parx Casino in Bensalem, which has the most tables in the state – 54 more than the Sands.

The Sands has added 40 tables since October 2010.

Combined with nearly $21.5 million in at the casino, the Sands gambling operation grossed about $32.2 million for the month and paid nearly $9.9 million in state and local share assessment taxes.

Sands table revenue had in September a month after setting a . The casino fell about $8,000 shy of matching August’s record.

Table games alone at the Sands in October generated more than $1.5 million in state taxes and about $215,000 in local share taxes. Pennsylvania taxes gross table game revenue at 16% --14% for the state’s general fund and 2% for the local share fund.

Statewide, October table games brought in $53 million, a $12 million increase over a year ago, resulting in $8,567,041 of tax revenue.
