Judge Upholds Elias Farmers Market Expansion

Judge Zito agrees with Bethlehem Zoning Hearing Board decision to allow market to expand by one-third its current size.

 

Northampton County Judge Leonard Zito on Wednesday upheld a controversial Bethlehem Zoning Hearing Board ruling that would allow the to expand, according to The Express Times.

The expansion of the store would include 5,000 square feet of additional storage space and two more loading docks and would allow the store to expand by more than a third of its current size.

The came over the objections of neighbors over multiple sessions. City Council added its voice to the protest, but the Zoning Hearing Board still ruled in the market’s favor.

One of the protesting neighbors, Patch blogger , told the newspaper that an appeal to a higher court is likely.
