Columbus Day: What's Open, What's Closed

Read what's open and what's closed in the Bethlehem area for this federal holiday.

In observance of Columbus Day, here is what's open and closed Monday, Oct. 14.

Schools: No classes for Bethlehem Area School District students, though it is a teachers’ in service day. Bethlehem Area School District committees meet in the evening.

Bethlehem City Hall and Bethlehem Township municipal offices are open. Recycling pickup in the city continues as normal.

District Judges offices are open, but the judges in Northampton County are off.

Lehigh County and Northampton County courthouses are open.

LANTA bus service is running on a regular weekday schedule.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver's license and photo centers are closed. (Online services are available. www.dmv.state.pa.us)

Pennsylvania Liquor stores are open.

Federal offices are closed. 

State offices are closed.

Post offices are closed, and there will be no regular mail pick up or delivery. 

Retail: Most retail and entertainment establishments are open today.

Banks: Many, but not all, are closed.
