Boil Water Advisory Lifted

Second test for harmful microbes comes up negative; repairs to water line continue.

A boil-water advisory has been lifted for 2,200 customers who lost service as a result of a earlier in the week, according to a news release issued by Mayor John Callahan this morning.

A second , which can cause illness, came back negative, allowing the city to lift the boil-advisory, according to the release.

Efforts to repair the break, which occurred Tuesday morning behind the old Minsi Trail Inn on Stefko Boulevard are still under way, and the city hopes to resume normal operations some time over the weekend, the release said.

There never was a test that showed harmful microbes, city officials said. But the boil advisory was a required precaution against the possibility that groundwater seeped into the water system as a result of the leak.
