Barack Obama Re-Elected President

President Obama defeats Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice presidential running mate, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan.

NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you."

The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. The race was filled with negative campaigning on both sides, from Obama attacking Romney’s business experience with Bain Capital to Romney lambasting Obama’s handling of the economy.

The race tightened during the final months of the campaign, with gaffes and surges from both candidates. After a weak performance after the Republican convention, Romney surged following Obama’s listless performance in the first presidential debate. Nevertheless, the president cemented a lead in battleground states heading into Tuesday’s election.

Pennsylvania was one of the earliest swing states to be called for Obama, who spent little time and money campaigning here. Romney made a last-minute push in the Keystone State with a rally in Bucks County on Sunday and visits Monday by surrogate Rudy Giuliani.

Election Day across eastern Pennsylvania was marked by heavy voter turnout and problems at several polling places.

Along with Obama, Pennsylvania's U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, won re-election, defeating Tea Party Republican Tom Smith, a coal magnate from the western part of the state.

Wasteful spending like sending our monies to support other Countries Like England(the Queen) Isreal Pakistan Greece and many more countries, just to name a few. We cannot continue to be the Worlds Policeman, and making policies for them. This is the real argument your tax dollars is leaving this country and supporting others while our cities and state suffers

If you really think about it. We have surpass the invention of 1770's The Constitution is a model just like we are a model of God (created in his image) That does not make us Perfect. So the Constitution is like the same because over time we as a Nation has Changed. The Original papers didn't speak to the fact about Women and their issues or the Blackman(the continuance of force slavery) which every siner of thos Papers Owned. The Consititution didn't speak for the poor. So Hundreds of years later with many Admenment to the Constitution we still want to use this as a Representation as a Perfect Document. Because of those Papers we as a Country is no better off continuing to use them as our model since Times and the make up of the people that call this home has changed.

Mickey Jay November 11, 2012 at 01:44 PM
First of all you need to do some fact checking. You should research where you hard earn dollars is really going, it ain't to the poor and needy. More like to the rich and greedy, and to other countries just to name a few. Isreal France Greece Pakistan India The Queen and the Pope gets some of our monies. Go back to the Clinton years. Everybody had a little more then.

So what about the precentage of the american populus that didn't vote for him, were they White? See it goes both ways, you dont sound too bright. Wether it was the mayflower that went to the carolina and eastern shore or ellis island we're in this shiggity together Row, sink or swim we all have to do our part.
Mickey Jay November 11, 2012 at 02:01 PM
Kathleen you are a whack job, some people say the same about the Jewish people. Where do you get the "Black Protectioism" crap. They weren't protected from slavery and now has to deal with mental slavery. Genocide , Racial Profiling Black on Black crime must be a Myth to you. Black Protectionism? What about White Privilege? Simply because one may be of the Majority? Get re-educated so that you can have a decent argument or conversation that's not rapped up with racial overtone. Row, Sink or Swim, we're in this shiggity together like it or not. I know you're going to say< I'm not racist, just your thoughts.
Mickey Jay November 11, 2012 at 02:08 PM
I love most of your comment, I just want to point out that Social programs isn't killing this government. Sending most of our hard earn monies to other countries and getting absolutly nothing for it. We still pay taxes to the Queen that shiggity has to stop, Isreal gets monies from us that has to stop and so do other countries. We need to take care of America First.

That's a JOKE am I correct?
Mickey Jay November 11, 2012 at 02:15 PM
true but the popular vote didn't win the election, but leave it to the GOP they're coming up with a plan to change that, until it goes against them
Brunell November 11, 2012 at 02:17 PM
Feodor, further more, it is amazing to see the people that supported President Obama act like it was a land slide. It wasn't a land slide. In fact it was very close. That means that 48 to 49 percent of the public supported a smaller more conservative government. I hope we get government that represents ALL the people. That is why our founding fathers set branches of government up in a manner that would keep one party from forcing policies. Now I hear they want to get rid of filibustering. That would make for an interesting time....... I hope we republicans are wrong about where our country is headed. This is not a moment for "I told you so". I have children that I am trying to teach that you get rewarded for hard work, not a hand out. It is becoming more and more difficult to un-doctrinate what the media and schools teach!

Exit polls showed the majority voted for the usual Democrat visions of generous public-benefits, freedom to abort their kids, active government involvement in the economy, and increased taxation of the successful. Same wish-list of the past 20 years, taught by almost all mainstream media, and now supported by the majority both here, and failed civilizations everywhere.
Morgan King November 11, 2012 at 08:13 PM
Seems to me that majority voted against the failed Republican policies of the past 30 years that created this economic mess in the first place, along with broadly rejecting the archaic Republic social platform.
Wallst November 11, 2012 at 09:04 PM
Sure beats the wish-list from the Tea Party anyday.
David Curran November 12, 2012 at 01:06 AM
Jenna, have you ever considered writing science fiction; I think you have it in you. Jeez.

The electorate sent a clear message to our politicians loud and clear - GET TO WORK NOW! The electorate sent a clear message to the funders of right wing spacs - YOU WASTED YOUR MONEY BY INVESTING IN EXTREME AGENDAS! Those of you who bought into the bullshit coming from the far right got hoodwinked - now you have another reason to be pissed off. Those of you who continue to digest the crap and regurgitate false spins and out of context snippets of information bytes to fuel division and hatred will find yourselves joining the soon to be extinct. What will make our Country extraordinary is when we stand together, do our part, no matter your tax bracket. The Republicans on the Hill who made defeating our President the primary agenda, wasted the taxpayers' money at the direction of the super wealthy - simply irresponsible and unacceptable. Now it's time to put the spewing of falsehoods and hatred aside, your political leanings aside, roll up your sleeves and get to work side by side - this kind of work will guide our Country's future. The government can only give what it takes, so let us guide what it is we need and want. A good place to start is to take responsibility for yourself, perhaps if more people would, we'd find ourselves in a far better place. This community forum would be a great place to start! Let's put aside our insults and cynicism, identify problems, and come up with solutions..what do you say?

Pink Pussycat November 12, 2012 at 03:18 PM
Well said Co2! Let's all grow up and get to work. We are all in this together.
Crestor Januvia November 12, 2012 at 03:38 PM
Democratic Dipwads.... the voters sent a majority of Republicans to the HOUSE... idiots... where is the mandate.
Wallst November 12, 2012 at 03:50 PM
Hey crestor! You're mising it...the voters voted OUT many of the Tea Party extremists. Republicans have LOST their way and you'll see what I mean when 2014 comes around.
Mary B November 12, 2012 at 03:58 PM
My immediate plan is to contact my House and Senate representatives on the State and Federal level. Federally, the "CLIFF" is looming, and anything other than a fair across the board compromise from either party is unacceptable and, therefore, not earning their keep. Now is the time to make your voice heard because now they (Republicans and Democrats) are listening. You may not agree with my across the board "lessen the burden by sharing the burden" philosophy and that is fine. What ever your ideas are, share it with your reps. Please share your thoughts and ideas on the "Cliff." I'm all ears and open for the positive.
Mary B November 12, 2012 at 04:21 PM
Hey Crestor! I'm a Republican and that doesn't matter. Anyway, you just go on being who you are.
slyfox November 12, 2012 at 04:50 PM
While I agree somewhat, there is no sense in trying to communicate with those in government It is a waste of time. Nothing will be accomplished and we all will fall by the wayside. Our elected keep track of who owes what to whom and they slammed the brakes. Those in power will continue their blackmailing strategies for there will never be compromises and one always believes his idea is more important than the next. The public always lose and we will end up at the wrong end of the stick I am afraid. Peace.
Mary B November 12, 2012 at 05:03 PM
I disagree slyfox. If people would stay in contact with our elected, it would, indeed, make a difference. Although, I understand the feeling when you email your reps and you receive the automated "thanks a bunch" response; what you convey can feel like it got sucked into a black hole.
Mary B November 12, 2012 at 05:07 PM
If folks can take the time to type a response on a comment board such as this, it is just as easy to shoot an email to your reps. In fact, you can do it in one shot if it applies to the issue.
