Anti-Wall Street Demonstration Coming to Lehigh Valley

Occupy Together plans noon rally in Allentown on Monday

The Occupy Together movement will come to the Lehigh Valley with a noon rally scheduled for 7th and Hamilton streets in Allentown on Monday.

Occupy Together is a spin-off of the Occupy Wall Street protest. More than 700 anti-Wall Street protestors were arrested Saturday when they tried to cross the Brooklyn Bridge.

Occupy Together is a national effort to mobilize "99% [to] take action against the greed and corruption of the 1%," according to the movement's website. About 30 people have committed to attend the Allentown rally, according to the Occupy Allentown Facebook page.

There's a debate under way on the Facebook page about whether the protest will accomplish anything or is a waste of time and energy.

In addition to Facebook, Craigslist is being used by the event organizers to get the word out.

You still wonder who got us into this mess, Rosemary B?..Obama is trying to get us out of it...The Occupiers are making sure the rest of Washington is listening.

We shall see who is listening November 2012.......

An interesting graphic showing the differences (and common ground) between the Tea Party and OWS. Clicking on the picture will make it larger and more readable.

"A TIME poll shows more voters support the protesters than the Tea Party"...10/14/2011 issue.
More: Opinion on Tea Party movement-33% Unfavorable vs 27% Favorable Occupy protests - 54% Favorable vs 23% Unfavorable 73% of people favor raising taxes on the rich (income of $1M or more) Evening News - 9% favorability of Congress!..DISGUSTING.

Your groupies have absolutely no knowledge as to what is happening. They will only realize it when Obama and his soldiers round them up and puts them into camps. I know this because you simply prattle on a symptom of those who do not read. So here is a book for you to consider.Suicide of a Nation by Patrick Buchanan. Now you can read what this man has written but I am sure you won't do that because your bias will get in the way. So you just stick with TIME. At one time it was a decent, informative magazine. Today it is a rag that does the bidding of the communist sitting in the White House. In closing have no doubt that the Tea Party people are far superior to your "useful idiots" in the occupy group.

If you take the time to read Buchana's new book, Suicide of a Superpower" you will add to your store of information. It is scary but worth the read

There you go again-pointing out the truth in a graphic format that anyone can understand.

There were tons of people who defaulted on their college loans by declaring bankruptcy. You, if you are working, and I are getting to pay for this. You can probably get your congressman to get you all the charts on this issue. In his newest proposal, your president is porposing a way for those who borrow now can get out of it later. Keep in mind that the Federal Government owns all of the student loans now. Nothing has changed.

Attorney Generals of New York and Delaware are set to investigate Wall Street criminal workings after taking cues from the Occupiers.

I think that graphic says it all!
Rosemary B October 29, 2011 at 12:37 pm
All people who break the law should be prosecuted. I just hope they don't start persecuting people just because they work on Wall Street to appease the OWS crowd.
Trouble is brewing in OWS paradise... http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/10/report-fights-erupt-between-occupy-wall-street-protesters/1

I cannot believe that Blomburg is letting this happen. I'll wager that the store owners are not pleased about this with Thanksgiving and Christmas on the way. As to the persecuting of people they are already doing that thanks to organizations like CAIR
Rosemary B October 29, 2011 at 05:50 pm
So disappointed in Bloomburg! Everyone has a right to free speech, but these "encampments" are a hazard to the naive people in them and the neighborhoods around them! I would be calling and complaining everyday if they were on my street. I'm also part of the 99%, I have rights to and I would want them gone!

The Occupiers are called useless idiots and the 1% acolytes are called pathetic lemmings...This name calling won't lead us nowhere...Let's all come together and look for solutions to this awful mess...The tea party favorite front runner Herman Cain admonished the 99% protesters to behave and get a job...Coming from someone who does not know much geography is all hot air.

Pat Buchanan predicts the end of Occupyiers soon...What else is new with this controversial man?..He must do his fair share and be useful instead.

Would not want to stand with any of these groups. Show me your friends and I will show you who you are.

Pat Buchanan has done more for this nation then you ever will. He is a couple of gazillions smarter then you could ever hope to be. Meanwhile you have a real opportunity to do some good up there or wherever you are by demanding that women who are raped can go and report it. You, howeveer, have probably found your element. You should really pack you bags and go back home to Mexico.
Brunell November 2, 2011 at 03:15 pm
I think what Chris is trying to say is, if you don't believe in our constitution, pack your bags and go somewhere else. If you are more worried about what someone else is making and not about how you could better yourself on your own, pack your bags. If you think the government is going to fix this, and you can sit in the cheap seats and complain, it will only get worse.

The Occupy Movement basher Pizza Man is being charged with sexual harrassment...Let's see you get out of this one.
Chris Miller November 2, 2011 at 06:04 pm
Wilfredo.
The guy you currently have in the White House is an admitted cocaine and marijuana user as well as a consumer of tobacco, something he vowed to quite. When you do not hold the high moral ground you should stop your preaching. The so called abuse of two women will take care of itself and you can rest assure if Mr. Cain has indeed done a dirty deed he will loose support. Your candidate, on the other hand, will continue with his ways, whatever they are because he is not a moral man nor is he a patriot. If you read his books, and you won't do that, you will find out who this man is. If you can still stand him after the reading, well, you get what you deserve. Keep in mind how mush assistance he gave to his aunt who was here illegally.

Well, Clinton had no trouble getting out of his mess while he was president, but he is a Democrat and they are definitely held to a lower standard.
Chris Miller November 2, 2011 at 08:46 pm

Do you remember the good old days when young Douglas Ginsberg was on his way to the US Supreme Court under Reagan. Nina Totenberg, a Progressive reporter who would offer things to Bill Clinton, turned up and published Ginsberg's smoking marijuana. He withdrew his appointment to the Court. Since then the Dems have coughed up Dukais, who would not put the death penalty in place for rapists even if his wife had been the victim. Then they give us Clinton, followed by Gore and Kerry. The Republicans were not much better with Bush 41 and 43. We offered up McCain last time and now we are being told we need to vote for Romnie. Then we have the entire issue of morals and it plays a major role. Within in the Dems. Party there are those who freely admit that they have no morals eg. Anthony Weiner. The Republicans do subscribe to morals but then up and manage to do something morally wrong and they suffer for it correctly I might add.

Another business forced to lay off workers because of OWS. 21 people driven out of work because of the occupiers just in time for Thanksgiving!
Jason George November 2, 2011 at 10:11 pm
21 people out of 100. This place opened in June. The original cafe is in Boston and is a corporate caterer. Marc Epstein, the owner of both, has the largest catering business in Boston. He's making excuses. 100 employees is not a "cafe" it's a catering business.
WILFREDO G. SALCEDO, Sr. November 3, 2011 at 12:00 am
In God We Trust...What was that all about?..These clowns in the House are wasting our precious time and money pretending to make laws and they are screaming "Where are the jobs?"..They must think we are idiots...Pay attention to the Occupiers and change your ways for the good of the country not your party.
Bob Zahm November 3, 2011 at 01:49 am
It's not sharing when someone (the gov't) threatens to throw you in jail and steal (ur confiscate) your property if you do not pay taxes. Sharing is when someone voluntarily gives away what they have to others. If Mr. Buffet feels so strongly that he is undertaxed, have him give away his fortune to the gov't NOW instead of working most of if through the Gates Foundation.
Rosemary B November 3, 2011 at 01:59 am
I don't think that will make much of a difference to the 21 people laid off due to business being down 30% because of the trouble brought on by OWS.

Let me see if I have this right. I should be listening to rapists, thieves, all sorts of malingerers, those who are in favor of anarchy, lawless, members of all the "ists" and "isms" and those who have foolishly gotten themselves into debt for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Your silly occupiers are making Congress and all officials look like saints. Keep up the good work.

Just pointing out facts. You are also forgetting that money withdrawn from an IRA or 401k (exceptRead More Roth IRAs) are taxed at withdrawal. I prefer my government not punish good financial actions. Sorry it's a quirk of mine, I think we should reward those who make good decisions, not punish them.
Tony Simek May 6, 2013 at 06:35 pm
I agree with you Interested Bystander. Problem is that if you punish the ones making the badRead More decisions, the Federal government will be punished all the time. In the current climate, poor decision making gets rewarded by voters. The middle class doesn't have a chance.

Naziti and Caroline Johnson so sorry to take so long to get back to you from your comments onRead More Sunday, May 5th, I didn't think I would have to respond. I re-posted Ken's comment because the REAL issue is "AARP selling out it's faithful supporters for BIG MONEY. So let me break it down so even the Soros trolls understand. ObamaCare guts SS and medicare reserve money by 750 Billion. Which ends these programs as we know them. AARP publicly backs ObamaCare. Seniors confused about OCare but trust AARP and their massive ad campaign for OCare. AARP contributes to re-election AARP becomes insurance provided for OCare. Unleashes host of insurance options that Seniors will be needing to make decisions about in next 2-3 years. Complicate the choices for Seniors so they fall back on who they have trusted in the past. Still unaware of the great deception perpetrated by AARP. OCARE fully enacted 2014. AARP gets steady $$$ insurance income now (not $16 membership fees for whoever posted that line above). SS and MediCare bankrupt (3/4 trillion $ stolen to fund OCare) Result for SENIORS. NO SS or MEDicare it's dissolved or becomes something less. Free OCare that sucks. Pay AARP for supplemental Ins. Prescriptions too expensive to purchase so go without or pay AARP for better plan. AARP richer and more powerful represents Gvmt Seniors - Self rule lost You see they screwed the very people that paid dues for their protection!
